So, I have this hypothesis

If you would like to help me gather data for my hypothesis, in a fairly unrigorous application of the scientific method, I need three simple pieces of information:

1) Whether or not you menstruate
2) Whether or not people you live with menstruate
3) Whether or not there is a garbage can in your bathroom

In other news, I think the Holiday presents I'm going to be giving out this year will mostly be a large bag of stuff that I bought at Joie de Vivre, all wrapped up and unmarked. You could get anything from a devil duck to a pair of wind-up hopping lederhosen! WOO!!

However, this is the season for people to start posting lists of things they want, because if I see a list, and see something I'm good at (mix CD's, earrings made out of interesting and silly things, drawings, etc.) it's very possible that I'll procure it for you.

My list of things I want will be posted later. I need to consolidate it. Although, having a working computer is a pretty damn good Holiday present in itself.

How do you exist in the internet?

See, I was just posting a comment over in helionaut's journal, and I quoted something he said, as I often do. When I quote people in comments, I always put their words in italics. See here.

However, when I quote people in chats, I use quotes. What do you use?

When I chat and when I'm in livejournal, I use asterixes to bracket my actions. If I want to hug someone, I just say *hugs*. My mom was brought up with the concept of ::hugs::, which at least one other person I know -drummer dude- uses, and OtherKat tends to do a lot of /me hugs.

On a similar note, the phrase "Internet Dialect" is pretty much awesome. What other things can you guys think of that fall under the catagory of internet dialects? Is lolkitty a dialect, or a whole language to itself?

*On an unrelated note, how do you space out your posts? When I swap from one topic to another, I use astricies --three if I'm making a lot of quick notes on life, thirteen if I'm doing something trickier.

For those who wish to know, my answers are that I do have several journals that I ocassionally use to write shit I don't want everyone on my flist to read (ie, if you give enough of a shit about me to actually go and find them, then you're probably one of the people who I don't mind reading.)

They are all linked pretty damn obviously out of my userinfo and/or flist, but I don't update any of them often. If you poke around long enough, you can find some pretty open (for me) stuff.

The obvious reason I brought all this up was that I posted in one of them (I'll even make it easy, it's in Alis's journal) and that sent me on a thoughtstream of 'why?'

Why bother to write a perfectly open and free for everyone to see journal entry, and then toss it into a journal very few other people read. Either it's open, and I want reinforcement, comments, and people to post, or it's not, and I should just either use a filter or post it completely privately.

Personally, I think it's the idea of risk --Ooo, I'm doing something on the edge, putting my emotions out there for anyone to find --if they bother looking. Or even more so, I think it's the same idea I stated above --that this way, I limit my journal to only the people I know care. I'm guessing that the hundred or so people who read my journal don't actually read every word I write --hell, more then half of you (I'd guess) I just skim past. But there are people who I definently care about to read every word, and I'd like to wish I meant that much to some of you out there.

Soyeah. Stuff.

Life has been completely non-busy, while feeling reeeeeeeeally full. About the only thing I've done of late is go to Much Ado About Nothing on Saturday, and the ensuing birfday party of bigness.

Oh yeah, and I got sick at Becky's house due to mysterious spontaneous flu on Friday. BUT, before that, we managed to warp her legos into giving us a sembelance of TennantWho/Rose. So that is a Good Thing. Picture is right Here.
