So, this weekend I went to NEFFA. YAY! I decided to go the entire time without Vera. YA...oh, wait, BOO!

But! Before going, I set up my phone to receive twitter messages, from mom and the people who were gonna be at NEFFA, and more importantly, set it up so I could update my twitter from anywhere I got phone service.

Tweets are in italics, and right here!

Okay, yay. Twitter and phone are now friends. Will update from NEFFA, hopefully, in the meantime, I'm going offline for the weekend. Bye!
YAY!

In Persis's car driving to NEFFA along with the excellent DarkEric
Adventure started by meeting up with [livejournal.com profile] forexample at Porter Square, so we would have company on the train to Mansfield. We had an excellent conversation, full of gossip and gaming. When we got off the train, Persis was awesome enough to be RIGHT THERE, so we went ahead and drove to the festival!

I have found a complication, a cute boy, lots of other grand folk and a boatload of squee!
*shrugs* We got there before any dancing started, so I had about an hour and a half or so to wander around and hug people. The complication referred to is the one of my four complications who was at NEFFA, the cute boy is this adorable skirted redhead called Daniel, who I know nothing about beyond *damn* does he have a good eye for what skirts look good on him1.

I can't recall who exactly the other grand folk was reffering to, but over the weekend at varying points, I saw [livejournal.com profile] dhs, [livejournal.com profile] persis, [livejournal.com profile] forexample, [livejournal.com profile] hmark42, [livejournal.com profile] atricilla, [livejournal.com profile] tirerim, [livejournal.com profile] herbertinc, [livejournal.com profile] ladymondegren, [livejournal.com profile] marmota0, Rixo Girl (AKA Susan dG), and the elljayless Michael.

And certainly other folk I am forgetting. Feel free to whine at me because I obviously hate you which is why I didn't mention seeing you.

Boy-I-kissed-at-Flurry is here, still cute, and remembers me. I am a happyKat!
Reference for kissing.

Oh yeah, updating this. NEFFA is awesome. Have not gotten to dance with boy-I-kissed yet. (*sigh*) Having loads of fun anyways. Sleep now?
AND THAT WAS MY FIRST DAY!

I did several contra things, which was a lot of fun, including my second ever medley --I danced it with a friend's mom, with me doing the boy thing, and I was *fantastic* at it. Well, pretty good, anyways. After NEFFA, went home, and chatted with Eric and Persis and David for a while --yes, I've dropped a couple tweets out of this report, because they have nothing to do with the dancing.

On my way to NEFFA! Goals: dance with @SpringisWrath, flirt with boy-I-kissed, see the SCD performance, be awesome.
All Friday, I was getting stressed out tweets from [livejournal.com profile] springiswrath, being depressed that it was taking him forever to get from Philly to Mansfield. So it was a goal to have a good dance with him --and the goal was met, early in the morning, with a pair of waltzes. He is a really quite excellent waltzer, in addition to being lovely at contra and presumably Morris.

I didn't see Boy-I-Kissed at all on Saturday, so flirting (with him) didn't happen. Flirting with other people, well...*coff*

The SCD performance I was thinking of was actually on Sunday, and I did make it --it was *awesome*, and now I totally want to connive my way onto the demo team. The Scottish performance on Saturday was Highland, which was also awesome.

As for being awesome...well...I'm always awesome. :D

Are my recent tweets making me sound too boy-crazy? Hmm, must work on that.
I do worry about this sort of thing.

Goin' to the land of extra parking! WOO!!! (on a less sarcastic note, just enjoyed an excellent two and a half hour cuddle pile.)
Land of extra parking actually turned out to be quite lovely --most of my Saturday was spent talking and cuddling and gossiping and hanging out with people, rather than actually dancing. The land of extra parking had scheduled people in two hour, overlapping shifts --the guy before me was this lovely dancer called Luke (who apparently has borrowed books from Keira) who I had a grand conversation and lots of hugging with, the person after me was this tropes-sor-finds-attractive: #12 utter geekboy called Foster who was a damn good conversationalist and a quite good kisser

Soyeah, the land of extra parking was not a problem.

The two and a half hour cuddle pile was also not in the slightest a problem. It was your standard con-style cuddling, with everyone making friends with everyone else and chatting. Also, breasts.

And I did dance some before that --I went to Susan's cross-step workshop, and danced almost the entire thing as a male --the final dance, I wound up being partnerless, and so danced as a girl with the abovementioned Luke, who is *also* wonderful at waltzing. I didn't waltz much this weekend, but what I did was all very very good.

Also, I am very amused that 'Secret Project: get Person to like me' has gone so spectacularly well in only a year.
:D

It was technically more than a year, since I think I started the project in Februaryish of 2008, but I may not have actually confirmed that it was a project until NEFFA. Considering it went from her not knowing my name to her having her head in my lap (no, not in that way, thanks) and mad gossiping in only a year, I am suitably pleased with things.

[cryptic] I can't decide whether this is a bad habit or the -best habit ever-
You have everything you need in this post to figure out what I am referring to.

Last day of NEFFA. Goals: dance with Persis, flirt, hug Susan, have a grand old time of things.
I didn't manage to dance with Persis, which was very sad, and I didn't see Susan at all on Sunday, so no hugging. Also very sad.

I did flirt though, and I did dance quite a bit. I made friends with an adorable Pet3 from us basically having the "Nice collar!" "Thanks, yours too!" conversation --NTS: e-mail him and be all "hello!". And there may have been more flirting with Foster. And/or stalking. *evilgrin*

(He made the mistake of giving me his livejournal when I had the potential of having internet! It is very very fun to just casually drop information gained into conversation and watch him be flabbergasted.)

Also, got ride home with boy-I-kissed-at-flurry. We did not kiss again, but did have good conversation. May hang out sometime, yay friends!
Yeah, turns out he lives within a mile of me. Hopefully next semester we'll hang out or something! Also, NTS, type that essay I wrote after Flurry.

So yes. NEFFA this year felt largely more like a convention than a dance event, but I'm pretty okay with that. I spent several hours doing multiple kinds of dance --I got to do a bit of swing with a really talented lead --he led me through a couple jumps and dips, which was rad.

Volunteering went reasonably well, if dull. Dancing was not enough but quite good what there was. People were utterly amazing --I should really make a point of talking to SpringIsWrath more often, as he is wonderful, plus keeping up with Jesse (known also as Boy-I-Kissed-At-Flurry) and [livejournal.com profile] ncarraway.

Soyes! That was my weekend. More posting on more things eventually.

MOOP!

POSTSCRIPT: My twitter is here, if you want to actually follow it. Let me know offlist who you are, so I can follow you back!

1: I like boys in skirts, oh yes I do.

2: Tall. Painfully skinny. Long hair. I don't find everyone who fits this trope attractive, and there are certainly other tropes I go for hard (my height, something like twenty or thirty pounds more of curves than I have, dark hair, female -oh yum!) but both my dating track record and my eyecandy track record reeeeally like the gangly ones.

3: Pets, with the capital letter, are different from pets, without. The capital letter denotes ownership of some sort --it's very not my kink, but not to the level where I'd call it an antikink4 or anything. I find it a fascinating power dynamic, from both sides.

4: I feel that the most acceptable word for the opposite of a kink is a squick. But the word squick (and its original meaning)...well...squicks me, so I try not to use it. I'm working on finding a better word, expect post on this later.

Sorry to miss you Sunday. My meeting regarding the wedding went waaaaaay long, so I was only there for about five minutes to pick up my CDs.

My NEFFA thoughts: http://www.rixosous.com/2009/04/neffa-2009-ramblings.html

I'm never sure if I should link real names to LJs, so let me know if you want to be linked from the reference to you.

antikink is a good word! I think it is simple, to the point, and not pre-loaded with meaning.

I was at NEFFA as well, but we didn't run into each other.

I'm glad that the original meaning of "squick" squicks you; I'd be disturbed by someone whom it didn't squick.
