So two weekends ago, Austin came over for the weekend! We had a nice little Friday evening curled up together and tired and decompressing from school or work, and then a plan to go to bells practice on Saturday morn, and then go home and make a pie.

And we woke up on Saturmorn and it was snuggly and affectionate and lovely, and he cooked some apples while I got ready, and then he called me down to come make sure they didn't burn while he ran to the bathroom.

About ten minutes later he more or less staggered out of the bathroom, in incredible pain. Long story short, we went to the ER --it turns out that my ability to dissociate and turn my brain off and Just Get Things Done And Do The Emotions Later is an absolute benefit when it comes to emergency situations. And I know enough things about enough things to know you do not fuck around when someone comes down with sudden severe abdominal pain.

So like I said, the ER. It turns out to have been a kidney stone, which is utterly painful but also typically non-fatal. I had other things that had to get done that afternoon, so he was released to the care of his other partner, getting a ride from their other partner, and wow, our polycule is pretty great.

Anyways, even though he was doing somewhat better the next day, it kinda ruined our nice weekend together.

(The weekend after that - last weekend - he also apparently did fine but I spent the weekend in Providence with Tuesday which was a really stunning time and I should write about that too, but it's not the point of this entry).

Today -and this weekend- is sorta serving as a do-over, an apology, an attempt to spend some time with my boyfriend that doesn't involve me borrowing a car and bringing him to the emergency room. It is going much _much_ better and the only flaw is that I am completely worn out from the past week of work so I'm really just exhausted. Here are some things that have happened:

*We did wake up in a timely manner so we could go off to bells on time, and were (predictably) some amount late. I woke up a bit before Austin, which was nice because it meant I had a half hour of fuckaround time curled up against someone lovely.

*There were bells practice! I was forced to do more Grandsire with calls (Phoebe did not believe me when I said I didn't know it, curses) and also rang Erin for _probably_ the first time. I have...gotten really good lately at knowing which Stedman sixes are slow and quick, and that's really all it takes. I did...pretty okay with it. Better than I had any right to, considering I was unmedicated.

*Post bells lunch was really nice --I splurged on a fancier than usual crepe (I got the expensive crepe I like _and_ put tomatoes in it) because I knew I'd be ringing the wedding later and make some money from that. It was good to be around my lovely friends.

*Honkfest this year was only one day (booo) but decentralized and spread across the greater Boston area (AMAZING). We went and listened to What Cheer brigade as they played for prison abolition outside the Nashua St Jail. It was moving and significant and wonderful --I was so happy to dance in the sunshine and watch duckboats and geese, and listen to the alarms as the train bridge moved up and down.

*After, Austin and I went to the main branch of the library, to try and get some work done. Timing shenanigans meant we were only in there about fifteen minutes, but I do love me a library.

*Wedding ringing also went well --Austin called some very good changes! Afterwards there was a hope for a food but no one was quite willing to initiate it...

...until last minute trailers wound up at Sous to eat poutine and swap stories about elementary school embarrassments. I got to sing the snippet I still remember from the DARE song, so that was great times.

*Austin and I headed home, and on the walk up Hancock we saw an amazingly large and chill raccoon hanging on a tree. It was SO BIG. It was SO MELLOW! I think I like raccoons, but also wasn't dumb enough to go particularly near it, so all my photos are crap.

*And then when we were home, he took point on making an apple pie! I cut some apples into very thin slices, and washed dishes, and fed him takis, and advised on ridiculosity, and it is a _beautiful_ pie.

I am happy for two more days upcoming of hanging out and doing things and helping each other get work done and taking care of each other. <3

Kidney stones are terrifying. I honestly thought I was dying the first time I had one. I hope he only has the one!

I am the most jealous, I think, of you getting to see the raccoon. :-)
