An Overveiw of my four days at Origins

ORIGINS::::::::::::
Was orgasmic, as it should be.
Wow. Now theres an adjictive I don't use often. >.<
Anyway, Origins was as absolutely utterly amazing as it could possibly be, and I love it with all my heart and more.
It is my homeplace, where I am myself. It is not considered completely odd to go galloping down the hallways banging coconut halves together. It is not considered in bad form to shout ALL HAIL KING TORG in response to the lovely 9th level games people. It is not considered (extreemly) blasphemous to suddenly get down on your knees and start playing a game of Satan!...It's just awesome. I love Origins SO MUCH!!!
Games:
Number One: Satan!: Satan! is your new favorite game. It is magnificent. I love it with all my heart. Also, it's really easy to get the hang of. I would tell you all of the excellent rules, but the first rule about Satan! is, you don't talk about the game.
Number Two: The Midnight Massacre. This was for Kobolds ate my Baby, a delightful game that is really quirky. Everyone is a kobold. That alone tells you all you need to know. Kobolds are awesome. Very awesome. I played at the Midnight Massacre after Marc extended an invite, and I loved it. I will DEFINENTLY be playing again next year.
ALL HAILL KING TORG!!
Number Three: Live Action Role-Playing Chess. This is a game that is based off of, and makes fun of, chess. I love this game. I played it 8 times in four days. Guess how many times they had it to play. 12. I played in 66% of the games they ran, helped set up and take down the board to the point where I can do it without thinking, became good friends with all four of the flub(*4) GM's that were running it, and I plan on running some games of it at New Years. It is fun. Very fun. More fun then just about anything else.
I will post instructions and the many, many, memories later.
Number Four: Uber-Chrononauts. I was one of the six people who got to participate in the playing of the first ever non demo game of uber-chrononauts EVER. I am special? OH YEAH!! Why? Because *I* won one of the chrononauts preliminarys, meaning I went on to the finals. *dreamy sigh* I shall treasure my precious Emily medal forever.
Number Five: The Aquarius Hair Down. I was third to last place. And just when I thought my hair was starting to get long again too.
The really depressing/hopeful part of it was that at least two of the people who beat me out were male. (Marc could prolly beat me too, but he wasn't in it.) This is hopeful since long hair on males is GORGEOUS!! Trust me guys, It looks REALLY good.
Number Six: I got to learn how to play both Volcano and Ice Towers. I liked IT, I rather disliked Volcano.
Next up...People!:
The Lab**: Lessee...I saw Cayce and Jared, who I have been hanging out with every year since I first came to Origins (grand total of three years) and I also got to see Shannon, who me and Aly hung out with last year. I met Zach, Shannons older brother who was about the same age as me, Madie, a Labbit wannabe (she did wind up donning a lab coat as did Aly, Cayce, and Jared) and Miranda, a cool girl also about my own age although she looked a lot older. See all the good Loony Labs brings?(*5)
At LARPC: In my first game, I ran into these two guys who looked to be a couple years older then me, and who had played once or twice before. Their names were Cash and Nick, and I wound up playing a LOT of games with them. I still beat them for most games though, Cash played 7 and Nick only played 6. Also in my first game, one of our priests was this interesting guy named Marc. Marc is awesome. Marc is beyond awesome, he is VERY cool. I hung out with him a lot all weekend, he was big on LL(Loony Labs), LARPC, and 9th Level games (The brilliant ones behind Kobolds ate my baby and Satan!). I also met these two absolutely gorgeous girls who went by Cat and Katy who played a couple of very impressive games of chess. And of course, I met the four brillent GM's, Allan, Aaron, Michal, and Bryan. (Aaron was the guy who created the game which automatically gives him quadruple cool points, Allan was a goofball, Michal was the "serious" one of the group, and Bryan was really sweet and fun to know.
Labbits*: I saw Liam, Petra, Andy, Kristan, and Alison (of course), and lots of other rabbits...I just don't remember who else at the moment.
Other: I saw Renee and Alex, Kugelblitz and Chickenhat, Werewulf, Nik, Aly, and Dad, Speaker-to-Animals, and Bruce. Oh, and Roger and Dylan.
Kugelblitz and Chickenhat rode out to Columbus on a motorcycle! How cool is that? VERY!!
The Dealers Room:
...Is one of my favorite places on the face of the planet. I'm pretty sure that it's completely implausible for me to get bored in there, not between the LL and the 9th level booths anyway. I spent a little time at the LL booth chatting with whoever was running the register at the moment, as well as all the other people demoing, playing games and hanging out, and I spent a LOT of time at the 9th Level Games booth which was, without a doubt, the loudest, funnest, loundest, most enthusiastic, loudest, creativeest, loudest, funniest, loundest, entergetic, and loudest booth in the place. They were also very loud. (((Of course, LARPC was also extrodinarily loud, maybe even louder, but they were a game not a booth.)))
I love 9th Level Games (hereafter referred to as 9LG). I LOVE them. With all my heart. And more. They are so flub it's not even funny. Every year they have a dice game-Roll 3d6 and win a prize from a list of prizes. They prizes are HILARIOUS!! There were such brilliant things as Backhanded Conpliment, Opress the Masses, Long Winded Speech, Get told about a charecter, ALL HAIL KING TORG!! (In which they would yell it as loudly as humanly possible, and anyone who was in hearing range, and who were proper kobolds would echo it) and Saten!. (In which everyone would immediately begin playing it.) I love them so much.
Between them and the LARPC people, my voice was GONE! I swear, Friday night at the midnight massacre, I could barely talk. It was the worst my voice had ever gone, EVER. I loved it.
Other cool stuff in the dealers room: I actually didn't pay much attention to anything else. I did, of course, drool over Crystal Caste for a bit, and I scorned their stone icehouse pyramids (shoddy craftsmanship...they didn't even come CLOSE to nesting proberly. And the trees...UGH!) Personally, with a company like them, if they're GOING to take on the challenge of making icehouse pyramids out of stone, they better do it right.
LOOT!!:
I didn't actually get much loot this year. I bought myself two sets of Saten! (I lost the button to the first one) 3 Happy Flowers, and 4 assorted LL buttons (Playing with Pyramids, All Hail the Internet, the Aquarius flames, and the Fluxx peace sign) That was it for stuff *I* bought. Mom/Dad bought us Dork Tower compilations 3 and 4, Star Munchkin, 2 Killer Bunnies expansions, and, as usual (and for which I'm completely grateful) Our con passes, game tickets, and many, many, MANY Generi's***. (I myself used up 24...16 for the LARPC and 8 for the LL Big Expiriment Ribbon.) So, MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY and did I mention MANY thanks to mom and dad for paying for the con.
They also bought us food.
Yeah I didn't spend much money this year.
Sluggites:
I didn't get to meet any...(GRR!!!!!) which sucked. Ok, thats a lie, I didn't get to SPECIFICALLY meet any. Actually, Aaron was/is a sluggite who even had a board name, although I didn't recognize it since he doesn't post, and Marc DID read Sluggy...a while ago. Foolish man for not STILL reading it.
Anyway, a million apologies to any Sluggites I DIDN'T get to meet, especially Klepto. There are some problems in being young and not able to roam all over the city.
And I think thats it for a basic overveiw of the con. Woo!!
Oh yes!! I almost forgot!! Another thing mom bought was this awesomely flub movie called "The Gamers" it is SOOOOOOO funny! Anyone who HASN'T seen it yet, should. Actually, MUST. Theres no "Oh you SHOULD do this" about it. Everyone. Must. See it.

MOOP!
*Labbit = Mad Lab Rabbit = Someone who works for Loony Labs
**The lab is where Loony Labs hangs out and do most of their tournements, seminars, and demos. Very awesome place, and where I spend most of my time. Especially when it's time to hunt werewolves!
(*3)Generi's = my affectionate nickname for the cute little generic tokens they had.
(*4)Flub. A word I litterally just made up as I was writing this. It means most magnificent, wonderful, amazing, fantabulous, fun, loud, creative, entergetic, quirky, great, awesome, stupendeous, terrific, and a whole lot of other adjectives. And cool. Except it really means BEYOND cool.
(*5)When it's not being addicts anyway...more on this later.

on 2004-07-07 09:23 am (UTC)I bought the DVD at UberCon. I concur that it should be MANDATORY viewing for anyone who plays tabletop dice-based RPGs especially if you play with munchkin-ish players. I showed it to my gaming group and they were on the floor laughing. The word "balista" still makes us laugh (or at leat smile).
Oh, and Sorcy, the word "flub" has been around for a while. It's a slang term, usually used as a verb, which means (essentialy) "screwed up". Example "I flubbed my die roll and didn't do any damage to the troll." Just FYI.
