Aug. 21st, 2021 01:43 amToday's been a weirdly dreary day. Not sure if it's pandemic-stress or back-to-school-anticipation-stress, or just my brain being screwy stress, but I've felt kinda funky all day. Hoping tomorrow is better?
Despite that, I did manage to accomplish some things:
*I've been sorting through papers, and finished the second of four batches! There is now a staggering amount of paper on my floor to get recycled, but all the loose paper is either now with its batch or actually put away! Huzzah!
(The batches are Adulting, Fun, Dance, and Teaching.)
*Tomorrow I am MCing for a ~live dance event~ assuming that the hurricane doesn't interrupt. Fingers are crossed that everything goes well. It's outside, and fully vaxxed, and people will be wearing masks, and *shrugs???*. I don't know whether I should be terrified of this or not.
*I've actually been pretty well caught up on Dreamwidth lately (basically everything since I got back from Pinewoods in midJuly) which is extremely happymaking. I like hearing what's up with yinz, thank you for sharing <3
*Since I mentioned it last post, I do have a new phone. It's a OnePlus Nord10 running Android. Her name is Janet Keeley, and so far I have called her: Jan, Jans, Janky, Jansky, JK, and Jankeel.
Name was unexpectedly hard. I was waffling about Keeley --it's a little scary to name her for a currently ongoing media property, because what happens if Keeley becomes terrible?-- and then I finally hit on Janet as meeting my various requirements, but the name didn't click. Once I finally decided to use both names, it all jelled.)
Anyways, the weirdest part continues to be the key placement, but I'm getting used to it. Eventually I will give in and download twitter, and that will be sad probably? I dunno.
*I spent a weekend in CT with the extended family and a week in TX with the parents and all of that was awesome but fraught knowing I had to do an airplane to get back home. On the plus side, my covid test was negative *and* I can now log into the stupid patient portal to check future tests. (Although I probably won't need to once school starts again, I intend to join the weekly testing pool because obviously).
*I've been really engaged with my music collection recently, which is _great_. Part of this is figuring out what to put on Janks, but a lot is just...remembering to turn on the music while fucking around on Melly1. This is a thing that is Good For Me, and I've even taken some time to just...headphones and close eyes and lie back and listen for a bit.
*At Pinewoods I had a one-night stand which, because it's me and I'm horrifically bad at those actually, has led to a month straight of wonderfully intense chatting and photoswapping and attempting to gently remind each other to eat and do tasks and just...yeah. They are hopefully coming to visit for a few days next week and I am excite!
We'll...see what happens in the long run. It's stupid to make promises I can't keep, and the amount of time I have available for florting is hugely different during the summer vs during the school year. Still though, it's been really nice, especially given how much the last eighteen months have sucked butts for making and maintaining social ties.
*Dunno what else to say here. I did start a medialog post the other day, because I've been hella falling down on that, but I don't feel like working on it right now. Um. School starts in a couple weeks? I need to figure out if I'm hosting ice cream for my birthday? Fuck covid???
