Oasis is BACK!

Considering that the last time we saw her awesomeness was well before (well...a few months. *grin*) I was reading the comic, this is happy happy news indeed. Four years is a rediculously long time for such an awesome charecter to have gone missing.

And the colouring job...it's so pretty! Pete outdid himself with this comic. I tip my hat to him, and give him Riot Grrl Scout cookies

In other local webcomic news, I can only get two of the three jokes in today's Questionable Content. Jeph says in the news there are three jokes! Aiiiiiiiiig!!

Iambic pentameter is seriously awesome though, if you've got the talent for it. (I don't) I really like the librarian charecter too --I really hope s/he becomes at least semi-regular.

And that's life for you.

I thought the third joke was that "Oh, joyous day..." is in iambic pentameter itself.

I assumed that that was all of the joke, that he figured out the application was in iambic pentameter, and she simply continued the meter.

She works for "Smith College", so the "SMIF" is deliberately mispronouncing the college name.

Jeph specifically referred to the three jokes as being just in panel four, and the librarian's shirt is in the other panels too, so "Smif College" can't be it. I think the fact that her "Oh joyous day, you passed the test!" is in iambic pentameter as well is the third joke.

Unless "You're hired" is part of the lines, and a Massachusetts accent pronounces "hired" as an unusual form of "hir'd", isn't that Iambic Tetrameter? ~JET73L

No, still pentameter.

Think of iambic pentameter as:

short LONG short LONG short LONG short LONG short LONG

oh JOY-ous DAY! you PASSED the TEST! you're HIRED.

(So yes, pronounced "hired" as one word, since most dictionaries do.)

Well, if the three jokes are confined to panel 4, I would say noticing the application's in iambic pentameter, Tai's iambic pentameter utterance and "Dewey decimal".

If not, "Smif College" is also a possibility, although there's also the sign in panel 1 which says "APPLICANTS MUST BE LITERATE".
