sorcyressBasically a million years ago, I did this meme that involved naming who the major players in my life are and writing a couple words about each and then linking it in my userinfo so that people can have some context for my life. It's been a long (_long_) time since that post, so let's try it again:
Family:
*Mom iswerewulf and she's great. She is the best mother, and the coolest mother and you should all be very jealous I have her except that she's so good she'll even share her momness. She lives in Chicago and does choir and theatre and other cool stuff. She cosplays way better than I do, but we share passion for super-obscure characters. She is SO GREAT!
*Dad is not on this silly social internet experiment, but that's okay, as he's lovely anyways. He has always been my more absent parent (being an anesthesiologist and traveling a lot), but I've managed to get over a lot of the resultant issues, and in the last few years especially, figured out how to bond with him. It's good. He still makes me tear up every time he does something sweet for me though. He lives mostly in Chicago.
*Nik is my little brother (two years younger, so at the time of this writing almost 22). He's snarky and dry and both very clever and dizzyingly smart. I like him a lot, but he's much more stereotypically introverted than I am, so I don't get to find out what's up with him as often. He maintains no livejournal, but is on Tumblr. He's gonna graduate college in a year with a CompSci and Math double major. He lives in Chicago over summers and goes to college in middle-of-nowhere West Virgina.
*Alys is my little sister (four years younger, at the time of this writing just turned 20). She sometimes keeps a livejournal attolkienkookad and sometimes keeps an art tumblr at The Ink Poisoning Project and sometimes keeps a personal tumblr under her real name. She's brilliant and creative and silly and I miss her a lot because she's off being sassy and awesome at college in Ohio. She's gonna graduate in a couple years, probably as a creative writing major, but she wanted to be a religious studies major. She's gonna become an editor, so, you know, if you have leads I'll take 'em.
SigFigs/Polyweb/Partners:
*Sparr is the partner I see most often. He's seven years older than me, and lives just down the street (though we're planning to move into the same house come August...ahhhh!) He does computery things, and maker things and burner things and kinky things and plays board games and goes to lots of cons and is generally pretty damn rad. You can find him lots of places on the internet as either Sparr or Sparr0.
*Sir is the partner who takes care of me best. He's much older than me, and happily married to a completely awesome lady who I like a lot. We do lots of kinky play together, but also lots of just curling up on the couch and watching terrible movies or whatever. Sometimes I refer to him as Terrapin. His identity is not strictly secret, and among friends I will usually refer to him by name, but he and his wife are not out as poly (or in his case, kinky) and so I do my damndest not to connect him to me. You should do the same if you're aware of who he is. He lives in Boston-area somewhere.
*mek is my clone and the partner I've been with the longest. (seriously, since aught-eight). Hes like two years older than I am. He lives in California, which is deeply unfortunate, but I've been making it out there about once a year at least, which is not enough but not nothing. He's clever and creative and makes stories and art and is deeply media savvy and just as deeply sarcastic. I miss him almost constantly. I don't remember his current policies on linking name with internet presence, so I won't, but he's on Tumblr.
*Ria is my moirail (Hommmmmestuck!) which means super-close-platonic-soulmate kinda. We look out each other, and shoosh away the rage and are boss buddies, despite her being in the middle of Ohio for grad school (Art history, last I checked.) She arts really well. You can find her on Tumblr as ComplicatedTriangulated.. I miss her pretty much constantly too. She's a couple months older than I am and I met her at college --we were roomies senior year, and I still sometimes refer to her as my "former-future roommate".
Friends, etc
*Veronica is my Best Friend. Like, when I use that term with the capitals and stuff it's because I'm talking about her. She's three days younger than me, and beautiful, and motivated, and wicked smart, and got her degree in psychology because she's rad and wants to help people. She lives in Maryland, where we met, with her fiancee. She keeps a tumblr at Happiness Abounds.
*Lauren is my college best friend. She has a twin sister, and both love bodymods and horror movies and holistic therapy. Currently, Lauren's in acupuncture school, and I get to see her not-often enough when our schedules align. She's a couple months older than I am and lives on the other side of the red line and I like her a lot. She's largely not on social media.
*jere7my is my adventure buddy and dancing best friend. I met him doing Scottish Country Dance and we found that we have compatible senses of "let's go wander through the woods and look for snakes and frogs and turtles!" and both like bikes and other good stuff like that. He is a source for good advice and excellent quotes ("the opposite of fear is data"). He's also a source for really bad advice, and is the best at making terrible suggestions or spewing outright lies with exactly the same expression as he uses when he's not lying. I tend to warn people at dance about him, because this is an entertaining trait. He's about to move, but is gonna stay in the Bostonish area because his wife got tenure omgyay! *Nurit is one of my roommates. She is snarky and takes little shit and cooks really good stuff and is sometimes extremely silly, which I like a lot. She also gives me good hugs when I come home crying, which because it's me, is not an unusual situation. I am moving out from the house we live in which makes me pretty bummed, since she's the best roommate anyone could ever have. She and Genni are both about half a decade older than me. I don't remember which livejournal is her secret lj and which isn't, so I'm not giving you either.
*Genni is my other roommate, and also the best roommate anyone could ever have. This is not a contradiction, the two of them made for a *great* residence. She is a little bit gothy and a little bit outdoorsy and works at night so I don't get to see her often enough anymore. Both her and Nurit do square dancing with me. She does computery stuff for a living, and is a vegetarian and just bought a new bike which is SO GREAT! She technically has an lj, but never posts.
*Brenton is a wonderful ex-boyfriend who moved to Seattle last year. I got to help drive the moving truck which was a BOSS ADVENTURE. He does Scottish Dance, and art, and lots and lots of technical theatre. We have extremely compatible silly, and would've raised the best children together (who knows, we still might some day). I talk to him not-quite-enough, but a lot of the talk is silly pictures and goofing off and supporting each other, so that's pretty decent.
*Magus is a recent ex-boyfriend who I like a lot and who used to be one of my best friends and I'm trying to fix that because he hasn't stopped being rad, I've just been distracted. He does dance and historical recreationism, and computery stuff and introduced me to SCD and Nethack and Good Booze (not all at the same time). He lives in New Jersey, where he is apparently buying a house, which is unfortunate only because that means he's probably staying there for a while and awesome for all other reasons. He's all over the internet as "marcmagus".
Online folk
*Harena is my favourite ferret ever. She lives way down in the Carolinas, which is a silly place for her, but I still get to talk to her a lot. She's got four kids (two of which still live at home) and has recently gotten into Homestuck. This is great. Har also tends to think she's not awesome, which is flat ridiculous, because she's super caring and nice and will give anyone hugs to make them feel better. She's Harena on LJ and Tumblr and everywhere else.
*Tailsteak is a webcartoonist from Canada. I am officially his Number One Fan, for various reasons, most of them to do with being devoted to him and occasionally remembering to make fanworks. You should read his current comic Leftover Soup and you should DEFINITELY read his finished comic 1/0. We got to know each other because he stalked me on Twitter and then sent me porn. It was all consensual and also awesome. He's one of my closest friends right now, despite us not having met yet.
Significant-to-my-past
*I have a rapist ex, who I try not to name or gender, even though it's probably not that hard to figure out since it's the one ex I don't speak of in glowing terms (or much of ever really). I make a lot of posts to do with various timebombs of emotional/sexual abuse they left inside my head, because, well, _asshole_, but I try my damndest never to interact with them because so done. But they exist and that's a thing you should know about me. I don't want who they are to be public information, but I don't care if you know their name.
*In eleventh grade I had the BEST MATH TEACHER, Mr. Smith. He is pretty much directly responsible for me becoming a math teacher myself, which is all like WHOOOOAAA. He's been on my mind a lot lately as I take my first steps into my chosen career path, because this is all because of him.
Inanimate objects
I name things, and sometimes refer to them by those names. Quick rundown:

Eleanor and Blaise = former bicycles
Vera Serenfreude = laptop

There's a lot of people I care about very much who I didn't mention explicitly --I tried to keep this post to the people I mention a lot in various capacities. This is also my update on a couple of pieces of information that hadn't been properly updated yet, because srsly, who has time to sit around on social media and change fiddly settings around constantly?

on 2013-04-16 08:24 pm (UTC)Also, if one cannot find me as Harena somewhere, they should look for Harena_Atria (or some variant of spacing between the two) 'cause I am that on at least two other places (Steam, I think, & Skype too which I almost never run, but definitely on various IM thingys)
Also Also because I'm a nitpicker and it's important to some of us to distinguish the difference, I'm in North Carolina which bears some resemblance to South Carolina in the way that North and South are spelled the same ;)
