Today's adventure was going to the bank and going grocery shopping. Being as the bank is over in Porter Square1, I decided to stop by Shaws and write down the prices of everything I wanted. Then I could bike to the supermarket two blocks from home, buy anything that was cheaper there then, and buy everything else at Shaws on the way home from non-Squares3 tonight.

This turned out to be an excellent plan, as everything I want is on sale at Shaws. Except Oatmeal Cream Pies, which were on sale at Foodmaster. I succumbed, because goddammit, for a buck fifty I am allowed to spoil myself sometimes. They will be completely gone by the end of the week. >.>

I learned that Davis Square is almost entirely downhill from Dinosaur Sashay. This is pretty excellent until it comes time to come home, at which point, you know. Entirely uphill and stuff. I also fucked around with the roads between Mass Ave and Elm Street, and I think I've slightly better figured it out. So that's...good, although less relevant than when I lived RIGHTTHERE>

There is an Indian food place at the bottom of my street and a block over. The door was open as I biked past to get to the market, and I just about fell over with how good it smelled. I will be adventuring to try their delicious foods as soon as I have a good excuse to eat out. Anyone want to get Indian with me?!

Housewarming is on the 17th. Hopefully we will have gotten more things unpacked and properly arranged by then. :| More importantly, hopefully we'll have made the kitchen usable --you can kinda move around, but nothing's unpacked and the pantry is denying access to the shelves. This is because Nurit and I have been out of town (she's still gone, until...soon, I hope) and Genni has been sick, but man, moving in is hard.

I will post address as soon as I've re-done the filter such that people who are allowed to get my address can, and people who aren't, don't. Also on the list of things to post: Dragon*Stuck photos, which is to say I went to a Homestuck meetup at DragonCon and it was AWESOME and there were lots of people in fantastic costumes (I will kill that Vriska for her robo-arm if I have to. That thing was literally awesome.4) and Faygo and slime pie and gushers and cake mix and IT WAS PRETTY GREAT, YOU GUYS.

But those photos will probably be on tumblr, as I think there's a grand total of two people on my LJ who would even know what I'm talking about.

Oh yeah, I have a tumblr now. It is here. I use it to post pictures of cake, mostly. It occurs to me I was going to write a thing about why I made one and how it's fitting into my increasingly-fractured online identity. Man, *AND* I should write about the Jolly Fats Weehawkin Temp Agency/Top Secret Headquarters5, and Dragon*Con, and okay there's a lot here for me to do on livejournal. I'll try to do that sometime.

And it occurs to me that to give my full Dragon*Con report, I have to do at least one more chunk of my Frolicon report. YEP. So there's that.

This got pretty long. I'm gonna eat something, and rock the heck6 out to Craig'n'Co and respond to e-mail. Ta!

MOOP!

1: I _think_ there's a full service Bank of America in Davis somewhere, but I didn't feel like searching in the light rain. Also, I totally wanted to visit Angela and Doctor Benson2 and buy any day-olds from Japonaise.

ba: That's an interesting construction. I suspect it's both because I am on much more informal terms with Angela (having babysat her kids and hung out with her occasionally at Honkfest and the like) and because "Doctor Vierling-Claassen" is a bit of a mouthful.

3: Squares is Tuesday nights (JOSHZED, JOSHZED, JOSHZED, ALSO BRENTON), the secret class for the next level of MWSD is Thursdays. Ayep. I am dancing three times a week this summer, and it is awesome

4: In that it induced awe. I do not misuse literally. Except rarely for comedic effect.

5: This would be my room(s) in Dinosaur Sashay. SO IT'S A MIDDLEMAN REF, YOU GONNA FIGHT ME??!

6: I actually had "fuck" here, but decided to bowdlerize myself. Because it's children's music, yanno? And it's really awesome children's music, and there are some places where using the word fuck is just sort of inappropriate. I can kick ass without swearing. I'm MMish like that.

The BoA in Davis is on Highland, basically behind Diesel. I don't know if their butts actually point at each other, but they're close.

Your shopping plan is admirably sensible. There are lots of fun ways to game the Shaws loyalty card system — for instance, if you buy a certain product for a while, then switch to a different brand once, you will sometimes get a big coupon for the first brand, to lure you back. If you have a newspaper coupon with an expiration date, that item will frequently go on sale just before the coupon expires, so you get double discounts. Pepsi products will be on sale for a couple of weeks, then there will be a week of regular prices before Coke products go on sale, and the cycle repeats. That sort of thing.

Were the oatmeal cream pies Little Debbies? Little Debbie is the budget-minded snack cake — I took one to work in my lunch bag every day, back when I was particularly budget-minded in Philadelphia. They are ridiculously tasty.

You are correct about the "uphill from Davis" part. :P I am not a fan of the haul from Davis to Teele, which I do as part of my daily commute, though I've gotten used to it. But then it gets better — your street is one of the ones I blow past during the "Ahhhh, downhill" part of my commute. (I turn on North.)

Funnily, Google Maps doesn't know about the Davis Bank of America. It's knows about an ATM-only location, but not the actual bank. (Genni and I were looking for any bank that was open last Saturday (to get quarters), and ended up going to Bank of America.)

Tuesday nights I may actually be free.

Also it looks like I again forgot to give you the contact info for my friends who were going to be at DragonCon! Gah!

Come to Squares! It is fun, and starts on the thirteenth, which is THIS TUESDAY! It is at MIT, at their student center (*coff, usually*) which is extremely easy to find. It is SUPER FUN!

Dooooo eeeeet!

I totally use knitting needles as hairsticks. I usually don't venture out into the world that way, but in my room? ALL THE TIME. Especially when my hair was a smidge longer than it is now.

I woke up and now I can't sleep, which is bad because I have morning class and afternoon internship tomorrow.

I went thrift store shopping today in consolation for missing your outing a couple weeks ago, and I bought a shiny purple dress. Rak & I will be the shiniest purplest couple. There, a slight update on my life to make up for the fact that I've been rubbish at updating my LJ lately.

...Every paragraph in my previous comment started with "I." This bothers me somewhat. *snuggles* I'm glad you enjoyed Dragon*Con, and I commend you on your responsible price-checking grocery shopping methods! I'll be trying very hard to make it to housewarming but may have to pass out in exhaustion instead. Love you!
