Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Wrapping paper is infinitely more fun, especially if you have friends like Jernie and Boe or [livejournal.com profile] macaroniandtuna. And then you get things like a box of duckies in a a refrigerator box.

Really, the greatest presents ever were the ones that dad made scavenger hunts for, back in the day. Oh, I so loved those hunts. <3

Tree: real or artificial?

We always get a real tree, and we always name it.

When do you put up the tree?

We get the tree on the last Sunday before christmas. Traditionally, dad and us kids go off to get the tree while mom is boozing it up enjoying herself in Georgetown. However, some of us exceptionally cool kids have been going with mom the past few years instead.

When do you take the tree down?

Sometime after New Years. We put it up so late so that it looks pretty at the New Years party.

Do you like eggnog?

I got cinnamon flavoured eggonog at Thanksgiving. It tasted like love in a cup.

Favourite gift received as a child:

*shrugs*

The single greatest thing I have ever recieved as a present was original Sluggy Freelance artwork, as part of the Best Christmas Ever. But I've gotten some awesome stuff as presents --two of my uglydolls, both pairs of fishnets, the first Sandman book, and, of course, GID. And my little luck-cat. *smiles*

Do you have a nativity scene set up?

Nope! There is a barbershop down MassAv that has one with two Josephs though. Hokay, I know that one of them is technically a sheperd. But it *looks* like two Josephs.

Hardest person to buy for:

DAD VERONICA NIK EVERYONE!

I am so shit at buying presents. v.v

Easiest person to buy for:

Katters, to an extent, because she likes pretty much everything I do. Aly because she Likes Things.

Worst gift ever received:

*shrugs*. Dude, free stuff. I can't really object, ever.

Christmas cards:

...ohyeah. I need to print and write on and send those out.

Meh. When I get home, methinks.

Favourite Christmas movie:

*shrugs* We don't really have a traditional movie that we watch every year. We do read "Twas the Night Before Christmas" all curled up on the couch, every year. That's pretty rad.

When do you start shopping for Christmas?

I suck at buying presents, so I kinda start 'whenever'

Have you ever "recycled" a Christmas present?

Nah. I'm not against the idea, really, but I've never been given a gift that was perfect for someone else. And I like stuff.

Favourite thing to eat at Christmas:

Handmashed potatos, really nommy ham, the sheer amount of Awesome Food that shows up at our house for New Years.

Are the tree lights clear, coloured, or both?

All of the above. We have a *lot* of lights on our tree.

Favourite seasonal song:

Currently, "The Christians and the Pagans", by Dar Williams. ARG GOODNESS STUCK IN MY HEAD LIKE YES BUT STILL!

"The Night Santa Went Crazy", by Weird Al, is a close second. Because he is so good, and that's kinda the song that got me into him for reals, as opposed to "yeah, he's this guy my parents listen to"

As far as traditional carols go, "Carol of the Bells" is all kinds of beautiful.

Do you travel or stay home for Christmas?

We travel for Thanksgiving, stay home for Christmas.

Can you name Santa's reindeer?

Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen. And Rudolph. And Olive.

*is kinda a dork*

Do you have an angel or a star on top of your tree?

We have a beautiful tree-topper thing, which has a star on it. And a dragon. C'mon, it's *us*. You really think that a house with [livejournal.com profile] werewulf in it WOULDN'T top it's tree with a dragon?

Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

We open stockings on Christmas morning, around, mmm...eightish. (Mum and Da give us a set time that we're not allowed to wake them up before, us kids go thumping down the stairs at that time, grab the obscene amounts of stockings and stuffers, and go back up to the parents room where all five of us sit on the waterbed and look at our STUFF!

After stockings is breakfast, and watching Aly eat half a grapefruit. (I should film it this year!) If we finish breakfast before dad has to go do rounds (Boo on doctors!), we get to open presents then, if not, we wait until he comes back.

Eventually the cousins and the grandparents show up, and everyone opens more presents.

Most annoying thing about this time of year:

I'm like...six at heart. There is *nothing* annoying about this time of year.

...Ohwait, I take that back. Finals.

Favourite seasonal tradition:

Mum's intensely massive New Years Party. God, do I love mum's intensely massive New Years Party. I especially love running around and kissing everybody in the entire house. *giggles!*

Family member you try to stay away from:

I love my family. Very very much. I try to avoid siblingdrama like it was a plague.

Do you attend any religious services in celebration?

Nope! We tend to light candles at Solstice (mostly for the hell of it, as opposed to Aly, who does it seriously) but that's about the extent of our holiday religion.

Yay memes. Damnit, now I really really want it to be Christmas. Rar!

If you are a maths type person, and you somehow missed it, the unfairly beautiful [livejournal.com profile] heptadecagram posted a geometry problem from hell for us to solve. So far, I know of at least two people who are stuck on it, not counting myself, and one person who may be doing it, in between driving places.

***

I spent about half an hour today with my hair taped to a wall. This was SIGNIFICANTLY AWESOMER then the hour and a fucking HALF I spent in a shuttlebus today, crammed between/on Kate Monster and Dominik.

...yeah, that's everything.
