One of the things that I traditionally do when I visit home, is grab a dozen or so CD's from the cabinet and toss them onto my computer. This is because, hell, I've still got fifteen gigs to fill up on my ipod (or so), and my parents have pretty bitchin' taste in music. Also: Free Music.

Man, I love having a webcam so much. <3
At any rate, lookit all the music I'm stealing on this trip (From top to bottom):
Young Frankenstine: The Musical! --I was going to buy it over winter break, but got distracted by the Sweeney Todd movie album, instead.
Hannah Montana 2 / Meet Miley Cyrus --Look, if my dad can listen to it (And he has been proven to be The Man), I can listen to it. There's nothing wrong with pop. >.>
Falco - Out of the Dark --I intended to grab more Falco, but this is the only one I found in a quick search. And I already had half of it. Now I have the whole CD!
The Tribe - Abe Messiah --Both the 2000 and 2003 versions. Songs from everybody's favourite New Zealand soap opera!
Supertramp - Breakfast in America --I'm open to new things, and I've heard they're good.
Spice Girls - Spice --...I have no regrets.
Britney Spears - oops! I did it again and ...baby one more time --okay, maybe I have a *few* regrets...
The Presidents of the United States of America - titular album --"Titular Album" would actually be a great name for an album, don't you think?
West Side Story --I am a musical whore.
The Beatles - three compilations (1962-1966, 1967-1972, and 1) and Yellow Submarine --Oh, well, I've been listening to the Across the Universe soundtrack all week. I figured I might as well grab what we have of the originals.
If I have more time later, I'm going to go snag more Falco ("Falco. Falco, Der Kommisar. Falco!"*) and, I dunno, Backstreet Boys or something, just to ensure I have as embarrassing a set of pop as I can.
Oh, and I might as well say it, I've been listening to songs from LazyTown for a couple days now. Don't judge me.

MOOP!
*If you are not mom and you get this reference, I am shocked.
ETA: Can't find the 2003 "Abe Messiah" --mom says she knows where it is. We'll see.
Found another Falco album in the basement. Grabbed "25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" from the car. I am a musicals whore!

on 2008-03-16 09:16 pm (UTC)And who DOESN'T know Falco? (note my icon for versimilitude)
Breakfast in America was the soundtrack to my first trip to Italy. It was a hugely popular album, but it's so of its time I wonder whether you'll find it accessible. Great cover painting too...
The best versions of Oops, I Did It Again are by the brilliant RIchard Thompson and possibly more brilliant Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester.
And as for Musicals, I cannot recommend Assassins, Alan Cumming's version of cabaret or the Donmar Warehouse version of Threepenny Opera strongly enough.

on 2008-03-16 09:33 pm (UTC)Assassins! Man, I *love* Assassins. The jeans I took a bunch of sharpies to says "Everybody's got the right to some sunshine --not the sun but maybe one of its beams" running up the inseam.
I'll look for the rest of those. *smiles*

on 2008-03-16 09:42 pm (UTC)bwa ha ha. What a chump!
But Leon Czolgosz, through his assassination of McKinley, brought about the presidency of Teddy Roosevelt and the creation of the national Park service. Cause and effect - so nutty.
