Folders that I randomly name, then folders inside those folders, and sometimes more folders then. Arbitratily --which is how I managed to loose a whole heap of KatCam pics (I *know* I have more then I have in there!!)

Dno, I'd suggest organising into "people" and "events", probably, then subfolder off there. So All OKat's stuff goes in People/OKat, and wecam pics would be People/OKat/Webcam.

And then group shots would either go under the principal person in the shot or events. Idno. Just a suggestion.

Well, part of the trick is that I have a lot more then just photos saved on Dimi. So I have had Katstuff in several different folders (A CnM folder in the webcomics, a KatArt in Art, and photos in photos/people/sluggites/Katters.)

(You're in photos/people/sluggites/new zealand OR in stufffromTho/[datesent] depending.)

Hrm. This is where tagging is so useful :P.

I'd suggest having folders for each medium (e.g. photos, art, webcomics, etc). Then subdivide from there. After all, it makes more sense that when you're searching for something that you'll know what type of thing it is.

Another idea would be to prefix every file with a list of keywords. So, f'rexample, a CnM comic might be "-OKat-Comic-CnM- comic for this date.jpg". Then you can always navigate to the top folder and search for "-OKat-" + "-Comic-" and find all comics by OKat. Or a photo of me in my coat might be "-Tho-Coat-Photo-sluggite-people-new zealand-fromtho- Tho looking sexy in his coat.jpg" - although that's a bit over-the-top.

I'll have to show you my setup sometime :D. I just ram em in a folder, but OS X has this nice thing where I can give them tags, then set up a search through those tags. So all I need to do is search for files with "{Harena}" in them, and I find everything related to you. Or "{Squadcon 2006}" and all SquadCon pics come up.

I'm just...messy still. 'scause I'm disorganized.
