Jun. 18th, 2021 10:27 pmToday was a _really_ good day.
It's my first day off --yesterday was the last day of school!-- and while a big part of me wanted to seriously take the day off and do absolutely nothing, a deeper part of me figured that it would be good to start as I hope to continue and not be _completely_ useless today.
The big accomplishment was cleaning out the garage in a _big_ way. I removed nearly all the boxes and things, sorted them, and then Rey joined me to help put everything back. Now there is a huge amount of room and floorspace (and we didn't actually get rid of _that_ much stuff, we just very muchly re-stacked it). The garage is where I keep my bicycle(s) so I am very pleased by this set up!
It's incredibly satisfying to have a clearly cleaned out space and the visceral achievement of having Done A Good Thing, but it's also quite satisfying to have spent three hours outside in the sunshine and nice weather with music playing and my body working. I do, in fact, like doing things and should try and force myself to remember that.
At one point the upstairs neighbor came out onto the porch to admire my handiwork (literally covering the backyard with _stuff_ and asked what store I'd gone to to find that much motivation. And I quote "It's summer vacation!" I'm just...I am _happy_ that I do not have to go to work for a few months.
(I mean, it's still very likely I will go work summer school for the back three weeks after Pinewoods, and my mentor training is next Tues-Weds-Thurs. But unlike last summer, where there was this thorough all-pervasive stress and frantic attempts to Plan What Should Happen Next, this year we at least mostly know what should be coming up. I do not have to think about school with the same degree of unyielding dread.)
Other than that, I also re-read a book and hung out online a bit and managed to mostly eat three square meals. My hands and arms kinda ache, but everything else is good and I am happy for it. Tomorrow is bells and Phoebe's birthday, Sunday is a wedding (!!! --but outdoors, and very casual, and I'll wear a mask and most attendees (all?) will be fully vaccinated) so no other plans those days, but then Monday I hope to thoroughly clean my room and hopefully make a bit of progress on the Pinewoods Gazette for this year.
I hope you are also well.
