Ah, goddamnit. I did not write my words yet and now it is very late, but I had such a good day and I'm really happy! So I'm gonna give a really fast summary of the high points of today, and then I'm gonna steal the notes I took for the SDLC meeting and use those, because damnit, I wrote! It was just...non-fiction and boring work stuff instead of journaling, but it STILL COUNTS>
Good things from today:
*I did not have to go to normal work! It's the first time I've ever taken a day off where I wasn't explicitly sick! I made plans for the substitute and told the kids in advance I wouldn't be around (and that they should study for their midterms next week) and I spent the entire day elsewhere to do some out-of-school professional development! I feel like a real teacher!
*I got to wake up later than usual, and commute while there was actual sunshine and I spent all day in a nice stylish office where kids don't leave trash lying around and if I wanted to go to the bathroom I could just...get up and go, and also they fed us lunch and breakfast and chocolate in the afternoon and woowwwww maybe the world of curriculum development isn't so bad after all.
*Also, my friend
choco_frosh works there, which means I merely had to take the train to nearest his house and he gave me a lift the rest of the way and then I met with him afterwards and we went to his place and ate dinner with his roommates and had lots of good chatting-bonding time. Very satisfying!
*There was quiche and I got to wash allllllll the dishes and I am very happy about both these things.
*I biked home from Porter with my feet freezing-fucking-cold and my gloves insufficient and by the time I got home my fingers were almost so numb I couldn't handle locks. BUT when I had to leave again shortly after to bike to Austin's, I had rinsed extremities in warm water, and swapped damp all-day socks for dry new kilt hose (the best decision, my toes weren't cold at *all* and just fleece gloves for fleece gloves under killer lobster-claw gloves, and wowwww, I was biking in 16 degrees like it weren't no thing. I liked that part!
*While I was biking around throughout the world, I was talking to Veronica on the phone, for basically the whole time until my phone crapped out. This is the best thing because Veronica is the Best Person and wonderful and I love her.
*I wound up not going to Austin's but to a friends house where there was board games happening! I got to play a couple rounds of Codenames: Pictures and admire the cabinet of curiosities and try out Joking Hazard (not dissimilar to but definitely better than Cards Against Humanity) and eat snacks from a Very Good host. So that was a lot of fun! I don't actually manage to go gaming much of ever and I should try to do more of that in my life.
*And now I am at Austin's and we are going to go to bed and then bells with lots of new ringers in the morning (yay!) and I'm quite pleased about all that. And this is over five hundred words, so I don't need to add very many notes at all which pleases me.
*Oh, and a good thing from yesterday: The preliminary evaluation from my boss, about my giant evidence file? It came back yesterday and I read over her comments. I was marked proficient in all four categories, and some of her comments were really nice and YAY! I definitely teared up in the middle of my classroom, which was okay since this was at like eight at night (don't ask).
*ALSO I AM DONE SO MUCH (although technically still not all of my) GRADING!
Alright, I hope you are all doing well. Tell me a good thing from your life, please? Now that I have done lots of grading, I can catch up on the last few days of reading.

on 2019-01-14 06:45 pm (UTC)Broadly: In Sept/Oct, individual days were sometimes good, but the weeks were hard. Now, individual days might be hard, but the weeks are good!
Specifically: I've finished figuring out the clues for my about-to-be-4-year-old's birthday treasure-hunt. I had a really delicious chocolate croissant this morning. I played Dance Dance Revolution again, and introduced it to some family friends, their daughter, and winterpup, who all seemed to enjoy it a great deal.
