Things what I have accomplished so far today:
  • Cleaned my room (which only took about 40 minutes, and it was kinda sorta a total disaster, so Kat, this is why we tell you to just Do The Thing, it's so much easier

  • Ran four loads of laundry and a load of blankets (cloud blankets hot from the dryer? YES PLEASE!)

  • Interfaced with the landlord as he cut holes in the ceiling and misgendered my roommate

  • Spent about two and a half hours chatting with Veronica as she worked on packing her house up for her move

  • Spent about three hours working on the endless paper project, by which I mean, sorting and filing every piece of paper in my room instead of letting them continue to build into gigantic drifts. I have two mail crates, a milk crate, a sized-between-those-things cardboard box, and a slightly-smaller-than-milk-crate wicker basket filled with papers. I also have a filing cabinet. THIS PROJECT NEEDS TO OCCUR.

Also, to put things into perspective on how *long* this project has needed to occur for, some of the papers I was filing today were unopened pieces of mail that said "22 Belknap" on them. It's been a few years since I lived there, ayep. I moved things that could've been recycled, a yep. SIGH!

Most of the progress from today involved going through the entire drawer of my filing cabinet that actually has papers, and investigating what actually needed to be kept. But! I did also get all the way through the basket of papers! Not just sorting it into "keep" and "recycle" (which I do with some frequency) but actually sorting them into specific folders and putting the papers into those folders! Now I have a fairly substantial stack of recycling, and folders all over my floor, but PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE! It's an extremely exciting time to be me.

  • Showered, washed my hair, and ate three square meals. I mean, I'm eating my third square meal right now, but still, it's there, it's not going to go un-et.

  • Fed the bunny. Not a euphemism, one of my out-of-town roommates has a bunny and I volunteered to feed it.

Things of note that I found while going through papers:

  • I apparently accidentally have two health insurances. I quite need to cancel the one that is not through my work (and is less good). This was a great thing to figure out on a holiday weekend. :P

  • Giant map of the T from 2013. Like, I think this map actually shows the entirety of where the busses go. It's an MBTA map that actually has my work on it, as well as my house! (the ones in bus shelters are cut such that they often show neither). I'm going to hang it up on the wall somewhere, probably right above where people put on their shoes in the front staircase.

  • A sticky note informing Ria that I was the worst roommate and had stolen a granola bar, and promised to return it. I have IM'd her and offered to bring her a granola bar when I visit in May, even though neither of us have any idea what this is referring to.

  • My pediatric medical records, including details on when I got my shots.

  • A signed confirmation that I have ADHD, see also, FUCKING VALUABLE.

  • An unfinished Artbook. Folders full of drawings going back...I didn't actually go through the older ones, but probably at least as early as 1998.

  • The instructions for how to make PHiZZ unit tori, which I've been vaguely looking for for a while now.

So it's been a really great day, and I really hope this sort of positive "getting things done" energy can keep going. I have a terrifyingly huge list of tasks and rewards which I keep adding to --the upside is that if I spend 50 points, I get a day off and can do whatever I want. My balance right now is at about 25, and I might be able to do at least as well tomorrow, so that's really good.

My secret goal is to get through *all* the papers this week. I think it would be really cool to not have them weighing over my head anymore. Plus, getting *anything* out of my room is good, and they take up a substantial amount of volume, really.

I hope your weekend and week is going well too. <3
