NEW YEARS RESOLUSTRAVAGANZA 2016!

Last year we had the GO BIG 'CAUSE WE AIN'T GOIN' HOME list, which was actually a marvelous success. By which I mean I got about a third of the things on the list done. Hey! When you are doing a crazy-ridiculous and often vague list of goals, getting a third of them is awesome!

Also, I know I didn't really make any posts in the last four months of the year, but that was just because I wasn't really doing anything with the list then. Really, the August assessment pretty much stands. Anywho, here we go with the 2016 kick-off, NEW YEARS RESOLUSTRAVAGANZA!

1) Do you know what I have done for 98.6%1 of the days of 2015? I have written at least 750 words. I have never had a year with such an impressive record2. KEEP IT THE FUCK UP. KEEP WRITING. WRITING IS GOOD. EVEN WRITING DREK IS GOOD FOR YOU.

2) I mean, but it would be awesome if you could convert your writing habit into something that you would deem "useful" writing as opposed to pure journaling. Just saying. More LJ posts, at the absolute very least. Say...15 a month? They can be life updates and junk, but you are falling dangerously close to the "perish" side of publish or perish.

3) Back up my computer more often. See, this is clever, if I check into the Resolustravaganza about once a month, then theoretically, I will back up my computer about once a month. As things stand, I backed her up just before traveling to Chicago for the hols. The previous time was last July, before leaving for a month. SIGH. More often than every six months would be *great*.

4) Cull out a number of clothings from my closet. Be it clothing swaps or posting pictures online and saying "who wants these?" or what-have-you, I have much too much clothing and need less of it. And yes, the problem is I *like* my stuff, but other people might like it too and then actually wear it. At minimum, I should probably institute a one-in-one-out policy regarding acquiring new clothings --I am allowed to get new stuff as long as an equal amount of old stuff is sent away in return.3

5) Track my bicycle milage. You know what sure would be handy for this? A milage tracker. You know what I got for Christmas from my da? YEP.

6) Go on at least one frivolous bike journey, of at least 50 miles (round trip). This can be a long biking day, or camping, or what-have-you. Just...go biking for real, not just for work. I go biking for work too often, I should use my bike as a toy as well as a tool sometimes.

7) research grad school

8) Have a steady job that is better than substituting for the 2016-17 school year. My dearest hope is that I will do well enough at the current job that they will ask me to stay on, but given the new information for my resume, I should be able to get _for real_ hired somewhere. Do that. It's worth the energy.

9) Go to five multiday events of a non-dance bend. This should be trivially easy --Balticon, Arisia, and Gencon all count. I am hoping to hit up Marcon in early May. I really like sci-fi/gaming/kink/nerd cons and would like to work and play at more of 'em.

10) Go to five multiday events of a dance bend. This should also be trivially easy, since each session of Pinewoods counts for its own. If I go to all of the Scot-aligned sessions this year, that's already three, plus NEFFA makes four. I like dancing. :3

11) Do well in my current job. This means lots of things, but I think I will leave it intentionally vague. I like my current job. It makes me happy. It deserves the best I can give it.

12) Give more presents. I am bad at finding things that will make people smile. This is probably a skill that can be fixed with practice.

13) Give more presence. Which I am choosing to mean "leave more damn comments on other people's social media". Comments are superior to the "like" button almost any time, and it's not like you have any shame when it comes to stalking people on the internets. LJ needs more activity, BE THAT ACTIVITY.

14) Take active steps towards culling the amount of time I spend on my computer. Because here's the thing: This is an addiction. It is not healthy, or comfortable. I need to fucking fix it, and the best way to fix it is to just fucking do it. Plus, if I can get myself to a place where I am not using my electronics in an unhealthy manner, maybe I can re-introduce Skyrim4 into my life, which would make me desperately happy, and I absolutely cannot do in the 2016 calendar year, not allowed.

15) ...but maybe I could still use the computer if it's directed productively? Like, say, dealing with the 10,000 emails in my inbox? Yes, this is 4k more than I had at the start of 2015, and yes, one of my 2015 goals was to deal with that. Clearly it did not happen. It is not many goals in which I made *negative* progress.

16) Start actively planning my wedding(s). They will happen when I am 28 (and therefore perfect5) and you will get more information, and invitations, closer to then.

17) Spend about a month of the year on the west coast, or at the very least, not on the east coast. Hear me out! That's not actually that bad, and I work a career where I get summers off. Plus, I've currently got three boyfriends living on the west coast (seriously, what have I done wrong?!) and I'd like to, you know...spend...time with each this year?

18) Make it to Highland at least three times a month. Considering that it's only weekly, and I already miss once a month for Exec meetings, this is one of those things that is doable only if I am serious about it. If I decide I am not serious about doing Highland then...I don't know actually. I don't think I'm ready to not be serious about it, it's still a really interesting hobby.

19) Craft more stuff. Craft three things before the end of the year! In 2015, I made stilts and fairy wings and love both of them and use them as much as possible. I could do more stuff, if I just tried. And theoretically, if I am spending less time on the computer, I have more time available for doing...stuff. Use it!

We'll leave off here for now. Is a good plan, is a good list. Hopefully it will help.

MOOP!

1: TECHnically this is only 97.2% so far, but I fully anticipate getting those last five days.

2: In 2010, I had a 92.4% track record (it was the year I started, so that's only out of 289 days instead of the full year). since then, my next highest year has been 2013, where I wrote just under two thirds of the days. So seriously, I have missed five days of writing this year, and that is, to be perfectly frank, kinda fucking awesome.

3: Thing that will help considerably with this plan: Working to be increasingly aligned within my colour scheme. I can get rid of clothes that don't go with all my other clothing, and then I will have better options *and* a more pared down wardrobe. For reference, I wear earth tones and pumpkin colours --orange, green, and browns mostly. I like the way they look. Occasional purples, but that's not something I should encourage. My blues and teals should probably go, as I can get rid of them.

4: I fuckin' loooooove Skyrim. To the point where I will play 3-6 hours of it a day, every day, while still working full time. This is way too fucking much, and I am not good at stopping myself on electronics once I have started. So even though I love it desperate, I have to not play it or I will ruin myself.

5: MATH JOKE!
