sorcyress: A character from a comic about the maintenance workers of the universe, holding a thumbs up and saying "MOOP!" (Zonker-MOOP!)
[personal profile] sorcyress
So jeeze. It's been what? Since 2009? Yeah, since 2009 since the last time I posted a wantlist.

And the last time I updated it was a year and a half ago. Ugh. So, I'm all a fan of having one convenient perpetual link, but I think it's about time for a rehaul, really. And more importantly, time for a reminder that I want stuff and no matter how complicated I am about presents, sometimes people insist on giving them to me anyways, and you might as well get it right.

Obligatory Disclaimers:

1) There is no social situation where I consider you obligated to get me presents. Not birthdays, not deathdays, not winter holidays, not anniversaries, not any other holiday. And this goes for everyone --my parents and partners are no more obligated to get me presents than the rest of you.

2) I am usually poor, often thoughtless, and generally shit at getting presents for other people. So if for some reason you're only into presents based on reciprocity, you doubly shouldn't get me anything.

3) This is in no way a comprehensive list of everything I want in the world. It's not even a comprehensive list of everything I know I want in the world. You can find more information on the sorts of things I'm into by browsing the "wantlist" tags on my livejournal or tumblr.

Onto the important part of the entry!

*************

Stuff what is not exactly stuff:

  • Moreso than anything else, get me a copy of your favourite book. Write in the cover and the margins, highlight your favourite lines, whatever, just make it a part of you, and give it to me. More than anything, this is my preference for gifts.

  • Mix tapes! Only please actually make it a CD or better yet a .zip file. Bonus points if you actually make it a mix of 15-30 songs (preferably with some sort of unifying theme) rather than just handing me a bunch of albums burned together all hodgepodge.

  • Letters, or postcards. My address is in this locked entry. I like getting mail!

  • Draw me a dinosaur! Or get someone famous to draw me a dinosaur and send me the art! This is my most awesome collection ever.

  • For my good pocketwatch to be fixed finally.

  • Fanfic gifts (see my Yuletide letter for ideas) or other good stories written for me for some reason

Media:
For movies, DVDs are the only useful media format; music, mp3 download preferred followed by CD; comics, collections preferred over individual issues; books, hardback, paperback, ebook, used, whatever; games, also whatever

The Sacred Harp music collection for shapenote singing (HEY MOM HEY MOM HEY.)

MOVIES:
Chicken Run
RED
Clue
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (the movie, I'm significantly less interested in owning a copy of the TV show at this time)
Titus (seasons 1-3)
Look Around You (region one, if possible, season 1)
Black Books (Seasons 1-3)
Coupling (British edition only, seasons 1-4)
Elementary (season 1)
The Linguini Incident

COMICS:
Empowered (by Adam Warren, currently need volumes 3-7)
Questionable Content (by Jeph Jacques, have one, need volumes two, three (or get two and three at a discount)

BOOKS:
Number Freak (by Derrick Niederman)
The Girl who Couldn't Come (by Joey Comeau)
My Gender Workbook (by Kate Bornstein)
Trial of the Clone (by Zach Weiner)

GAMES:
Settlers of Catan
An original-run resin Icehouse set
Machine of Death prediction cards (every set possible)

Bike, etc

More lights, as many lights as humanly possible
Ribbons for the handlebars
Really good panniers
Lightweight, small-packing sleeping bag (for bike-camp adventures)
Thermarest Pad
Metal camping cup (with caribeaner preferred)

Clothing
I am "small" in general --I wear a boy's XL, (16? maybe 14?), woman's S, men's XS. Shoe size is roughly 5 men's, 7 woman's.

Shirts with french cuffs
Awesome cufflinks
Professional clothing in general. Nice skirts and blouses.
A cream coloured fedora
Old ties that you have lying around and never wear ever
Buttons/pins/badges/whathaveyou
A custom shirt from Duchess Clothier. Who am I even kidding, I want a whole fucking custom-tailored suit from them. Obviously this can't possibly be a surprise gift, and will involve a lot of fiddly e-mails and sizing and whatnot.
Wholly unuseful but utterly gorgeous heels
Trailer shirt: Restricted
Trailer shirt: All Audiences
Homestuck Pins (Basically all of them are awesome, but especially the Mid Blood and High Blood troll pins.)
Leftover Soup "Do Your Thing" shirt
Black Ops Social Services shirt

Gift Cards:
If you are going to get me gift cards, I would rather you look at the top category (labelled "stuff what is not exactly stuff") first and try your darndest to create one of those presents instead. It's not that I think gift cards're crass, so much as I think they're boring.

REI --bike gear, camping gear
Shaws --foooooood
CVS --toiletries, occasional candy, housewares
Dunkin Donuts --I refuse to admit that this is actually on here
iTunes --music, more recently, apps

Art:

The original art for my favourite Narbonic comic (second one down on the page, punchline "Everybody's got the right to their dreams" if it's still available, and I will be very sad if it's not. Anyways, the link has a "buy now" place to clicky.)
Frames for the art I already have: 11" x 14.5"; 5.25" x 3.5" (x4); 12" x 5" (x3); 8.5" x 5.5"
That Dame is Bad News
DANCE!
Homestuck 2013 Calendar. Currently super cheap! I plan on pulling it apart to make stuff out of.

Housestuff:

Vinegar
Baking soda
Full size sheets, especially with awesome designs like space or dinosaurs or skulls or bright colours
Small cheap terrycloth towels/rags/washcloths that I won't feel bad about staining
Spray bottle(s)
A sewing machine(? I don't know where I'd put it, or whether it's a thing worth having, being as I don't really sew yet.)
Green electrical tape
Plain stainless-steel zippo lighter
A backhoe
Some sort of (good!) portable keyboard for my ipad (especially if it also works with my iphone 4)
Flatbed Scanner. I don't need the printer-fax-copy-combo, just the ability to scan documents and pictures. Maybe like...12 by 16 inches? I have no idea what standard sizes are. If you have an old all-in-one you're trying to get rid of, I'm happy to take it off your hands, since this is the only part I need.

*************

Whew. It's hard work being greedy.

Bwahah, this post fills me with many commentlike thoughts, so you get a List back!

1) There are entirely too many items on this list that i could easily get you (especially with the onset of birthday moneys) that i really have to sit on f!H to prevent her access to my bank account. Just know that we want to give you All! The! Things! ;D

2) That said, there is one item in particular that i think has "Woozle" written all over it 'cause it's the sort of thing she's been doing since before you were born, so i will probly pord her mercilessly about it ^_^

3) Speaking of W, she actually has one of your wishlist items, we just need to find where it scurried off and hid in an ADD Moment.

4) i guess if i went and knit you dishcloth/towels you'd feel badly about getting them stained... AHAHAHHA LIKE THAT WILL STOP ME

5) Eehehehhehehe, "backhoe" as a housestuff item! Eeheheheheheheeeeeeeeee *falls over into a heap of ferret giggles*

6) And instead of getting you things on your Actual List, i send you random things that come my way and scream DARLYSOR at me. i'm just fun thataways >.>

7) Mel has Coupling on DVD so if you came and visited, we could watch 'em together and that'd be a present for both of us :D (wow, that was hard to get past the negvox >.>)

8) i keep thinking what a good idea a wishlist is and how i should do one but then i have those "asking people for things" issues that make it difficult for me to ask for anything from as simple as help with a knit pattern from a friend who loves to help (she's a librarian) and therefore likes being asked questions to permission to vent the negvox to someone... so that makes even the thought of setting up a wishlist like this not only nigh on impossible but also causes the aforementioned negvox to scream "greedy little bitch" at me for even thinking about it. :/

I liked the book idea, but I need to be on your friends list to see your address.

We don't have an especially high mutual friend overlap, and those we do share are largely not people I know particularly well or am especially close to. I don't seem to have the foggiest idea of who you are, and your journal provides no hint whatsoever. So forgive me, but I'm not interested in giving out my address to strangers.

(If you're not actually a stranger, and I'm just forgetting what your less-secret handle or name is, please, by all means, e-mail me. kdsorceress, gmail, the usual.)

Re: the book idea, my recent set of books I'm shoving onto people are all e-books. Do you read e-books? if yes, what format(s)?

Anything I can open on my laptop or phone. So definitely pdfs, probably "kindle" books (since my phone has a kindle app that theoretically works), any other format as long as it includes a link to a free reader of that format for macs.

Excellent taste, especially on the mix tapes.

omgod, the "I have a little list" is everything I ever wanted in high school! I would've spent _weeks_ memorizing everything in there.

...wait. Does that say Tori Amos did a cover of Sarah Sylvia Cynthia Stout? Because if so I MUST FLAIL FOREVER FLAIL FLAIL FLAIL! That's awesome.

Okay, I might have to throw physical copies of these together sometime. Wonderful!
