Sep. 9th, 2011 07:46 pmHey hey people.
I am writing a thing in response to a fandom_secret (yes, I know that's basically just feeding the trolls, I don't care) and as part of it, I need some information/sources.
I am looking for media properties (movies, tv, comics, books, hell video games --anything telling a fictional story) that contain internet-based friendships, and treat those friendships as healthy or normal.
I am not looking for instances in which a meatspace friendship becomes an online one (due to characters moving or whatever) or for instances of internet-based dating, even successful. I'm not looking for real life stories (although I'm happy to hear them.)
Thanks in advance.

on 2011-09-10 12:54 am (UTC)Catherine Jinks' series about the genius kid. He starts out with an online dating thing that he's lying about, and then he finds someone awesome, and then they find out that they were both lying. And they remained friends.

on 2011-09-10 03:58 pm (UTC)The Digimon movie had a pretty good internet friendship? Except the kid from the internet had an evil Digimon who tried to destroy the world? But that wasn't the internet's fault...Except I think Digimon come from the internet. So maybe internet friendship is evil.
But gosh Terriermon is cute. And then he turns into a bunny with pants. And machine guns.

on 2011-09-11 02:46 am (UTC)Also, I don't know if it's still available to read anymore, but in the "web extras" comic for the TV show Heroes, Micah (who is a... 10ish year old boy and basically has a form of technomancy) befriends the character ... Hannah, I think it was? (Stana Katic was the actress who played her, briefly) to help weed out conspiracies and take them down. Eventually, Hannah becomes one with the internet, and Micah still talks to her.
