So, due to some amount of varying people stressing out and whatnot, Maddie and Liz and Molly and I all moved around the room a whole heaping bunch.

I was largely not expecting much out of this --I wasn't one of the ones who needed movement-- and have been loudly kvetching to just about everyone about how this is somewhat sucktacular. But whatever, I don't have an opinion, and therefore I'm perfectly happy to let my roomies rearrange me so that they ARE happy.

I have moved to Maddie's desk. "hm" sez I. "There looks to be enough room between the wall and the desk to build milk crate shelves. And maybe even move my bookshelf!"

Well.

I have done what is impossible for anyone who's actually worth knowing. I have created enough shelf space for all my books.

NOT ONLY THAT, but I've *also* created enough shelf space for all my personal notebooks.

Can you say "ridiculously happy with her new living situation?" Because I sure as hell can!

I have created enough shelf space for all my books.

Oh, that happens from time to time.

It tends to last anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks.

After that, you're laying them horizontally on top of the short ones again.

Or stacking the mass-market paperbacks horizontally, two deep, to the height of a trade (which is ever so slightly shorter than where the next shelf has been adjusted to).

Or stacking them horizontally on top of the bookshelves. A friend of mine did that with mass-market paperbacks, two deep, to about 30" deep. Then one day she had a book slide.

Even the phrase "book slide" terrifies me. Damaged covers, torn pages... and that it effectively acts like an avalance of wooden blocks, should you be beneath it.

(This is why the top area of my bookshelves houses wine, mead, vodka, and a lost, lonely bottle of creme de menthe. Also, because my previous bottle shelf is now full of roleplaying books, which moved to house the cookbooks, which had to move because I needed my bedside table back.

It's since been buried with books again.)

maddie and liz(zy) and molly and k
moved stuff through the room in play (one day)

and maddie remembered a song she sang
so loudly she couldn't remember the words, and

liz(zy) befriended a bunny of dust
whose tail tracks lint over all that it must;

and molly was stressed for that horrible desk
which stood in its corner while glaring at her:and

k came home with a bookshelf place
as thin as a gap and as wide as a space.

For whenever we move (with a you or a me)
it's always ourselves we find in between

(Apologies)
