Yah. So, this weekend, instead of slacking and catching up on shtuff, I went to Camporee! Camporee is a big girl scout tradition, where a whole heap of troops all go to camp and chill in the same spot and hang out/do activities together.

Which happens to be seriously fun. BUT, because us awesome Troop 999 girls got old without noticing or something, it was the last Camporee we got to go to as girls. Which was sad, and made both me and Veronica ([livejournal.com profile] drama_angel3189) cry most pathetically.

FRIDAY: Left school with the words "Ohshitohshitohshit, need to PACK!" going through my head. V, Shayla, and I got waylaid by the hella awesome Mica (From Illchester) and band-kid-Carrie on the way, and spent a good fifteen or so minutes gossiping and waving to cars.

Packed, and was in the backseat of the car by four-thirty. In front of me was Veronica, in the drivers seat was the third member of our small-but-cool troop, KT. If you want a fun way to freak adults out, just tell them that you drove down to Camporee yourselves. We spent an excellent hour and a half driving towards the campsite, singing along to the Shrek II soundtrack and Rent. Chick-fil-a for dinner, arrived at the site, and had everything set up long before our leader, the wonderful Miss Marsha arrived with her other troop.

Friday night, the three of us went across the road to entertain the small horde (18 juniors and 21 brownies in the same site --39 girls who were nine years old or younger--their leaders are gods!) by singing loudly and teaching songs. Ended with Taps, and "Alright, now it's time for you to be quiet since we're going to bed" which earned us claps from the leader"

About two-thirty Saturday morning, the three of us awoke to thunder and Hard Rain. (Damn, now I wanna go burn that soundtrack onto Dimi) The horde had started somewhat panicking, as little girls are prone to do, and while we chilled out and waited to see if we had to evacuate, they packed into the cars to wait and to calm the girls down.

Thunderstorms in tents are REALLY cool. You get all sorts of awesome going, from the rain pounding on you, and since we were in the woods, we didn't have to worry about being lightning'd.

SATURDAY: We woke up at a highly indecent hour (about 7:45), and, for KT and me at least, to the smell of breakfast sandwiches being cooked. One delicious mix of toast, ham, cheese, and eggs later, the three of us somehow made it out to the central clearing area for the opening ceremony (Yay!!) Since we're LOUD, we continued with our ultimate plan of world domination through singing camp songs, and sang with the girls until everyone had arrived.

After opening, we worked games --since this year there was technically a Native American theme, we adapted a bunch of running around making lots of noise games (RAMLoN? If ever there needed to be a booklet made, this was it) to have N.American themes. (Sharks and Minnows? Uhhh....you girls are bufflo, and you're trying not to get caught by the Indians!) So that was good fun, plus it helped us to continue our world domination by endearing us three to all the little girls.

Lunch was cold cuts, after lunch was chillaxing something fierce. Eventually, me and V wandered down to watch a group of N.A. dancers do some awesomeness-dancing, and talk about traditions and whatnot, which was fun. Plus, because I am a camerawhore, I managed to get some excellent footage.

Since KT stayed back to cook dinner for us (Because she's awesome!) when we got back down to the campsite we had delicious potroast to eat. This was followed by toasted cresent rolls with butter and cinnomon sugar, assorted trail-mix type stuff (Cheddar chex mix FTW!) and, of course, the traditional s'more. (Not to mention a highly entertaining discussion of what heaven must be like for the guy who first figured out that toasting marshmellows over the fire is the single best idea since the guy who invented cadbury creme eggs.) (He of course went to heaven. How could he have not?)

Sat. evening is always the Campfire, which was LOADS of fun this year --several groups came up with completely original skits and songs, sparing us from yet another rendition of "The Invisible Bench". The three of us decided to do a mock graduation since it was our last year, which went off spectacularly --a couple of troops even gave us a standing ovation. Best part was flipping the yarn tassles we had been wearing on our bandanas. Okay, and then me and V sobbing stupidlike because we're never coming baaaaaack.

SUNDAY: I wound up waking up way early ('bout six oh five --I don't wake up for SCHOOL that early. :P) and just chilling out and drawing. Eventually, I made pancakes, we all packed up, and, with half an hour to spare before closing ceremony, we were done.

So we did the only logical thing, and played cards for half an hour. Then closing ceremony, then HOME (Singing more Rent, since we hadn't finished)

And yeah. I'm beat. And at three-thirty or so, I'm booking for a party. Aieee.

In the meantime, I suppose I'll be slacking around online though. Catch you kids, kats, kittens, STGs, and...other folk later!
