List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now, shaping your spring. Post these instructions in your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

Because, hell, I like music memes. And, well, the songs I'm most into at any given moment change rapidly and without a lot of notice. But this is what I've been listening to the most in the past couple days:

1) Ordinary Day, Great BIg Sea
And I said whey-hey hey, it's just an ordinary day
And it's all your state of mind
At the end of the day
You've just got to say
It's alright

Dude. Theme Song. I mean, this song is a whole bunch of Sorcy-brand optimism wrapped up 'sea shanties and bagpipes' (to quote my little brother's opinion of my tastes in music)

2) Falling, The Cynic Project and Jennifer Grimm
They searched her suitcase
but they
Couldn't find what she hid
So she runs and runs and runs...

It is trance *and* general pretty-voiced melancholy girl singing. I've been in kinda a slight emotional down for...jesus, actually for a month or more now, so I've been listening to this one a lot. It's kinda gorgeous. Tho gave it to me, because he gives me something like a tenth of all my music.

...*checks*

Okay, it's actually closer to about five percent of all my music. But still, I have a lot of his stuff in my itunes.

3) 30/90, tick, tick...BOOM!
Peter Pan and Tinkerbell
Which way to Never Never Land
Emerald City's gone to hell
Since the wizard blew off his command
On the street you hear the voices
Lost children, crocodiles
But you're not into
Making choices, wicked witches
Poppy fields or men behind the curtains
Tiger lilies, ruby slippers
Clock is ticking, that's for certain

This song has eaten my brain. I played it by accident on shuffle, and it went "OM NOM NOM" and it is now my most played song on itunes, and one of only three that have broken 100 plays.

Everytime it plays, it begs me to turn it up and get into it, to forget who I am and just let the music carry me along. I walk so deliberately with it --it starts with a ticking, with which I match pace, but once it gets into the actual music, I walk faster, and faster and faster. And sometimes I dance. >.> (Yes, it's just that good.)

4) Harbor, Vienna Teng
sail your sea
meet your storm
all I want is to be your harbor
the light in me
will guide you home
all I want is to be your harbor

I mean, I'm a huge sucker for free music, which made Magus's steering of me to this page Most Excellent. You know how I mentioned pretty-voiced melancholy girl singing? I was actually describing Vienna Teng. Her voice is made of several different kinds of bitchin', and she pretty much is currently the top of my "shit man, I'm feeling Quiet. I need Quiet music" list. (Quiet is different from quiet, and not as bad as emo or depressed.)

So yeah, pretties.

This has been on my 'Whatever It Needs to Be' playlist about half the time since I downloaded it in February/March. Great song for singing along to absently as you wander the streets of Cambridge, I'm tellin' you.

5) Addicted to Bad Ideas, World/Inferno Friendship Society
Because I can
'Cause no one can stop me
'Cause it makes up for things I lost.
Because I'm addicted to bad ideas
And all the beauty in this world

Tho got me addicted to W/IFS about a year ago by feeding me the song 'Only Anarchists Are Pretty', which I listened to over and over and over and over again. They are rock-caberet-punk-squeeage, and I desperately love them.

This particular song is especially bouncy, and made of love and win and having to run around a bit. The night I went to watch the sun rise from the roof of Porter Exchange, I accompanied it with a soundtrack of this and 30/90, on repeat, and with large amounts of running around in circles.

6) Everybody's Got the Right, Assassins (Broadway Revival Cast)
Everybody's got the right to some sunshine
-Everybody!-
Not the sun, but maybe one of it's beams
Rich man poor man, black or white
Pick your apple, take a bite
Everybody just hold tight to your dreams
Everybody's got the right...to their dreeeeeeeeeeams!

To celebrate the one year anniversary of me joining the Assassins fandom, I've been listening to it a lot more lately. (Note: This is bullshit. It's just been on my mind) Mostly just this song and the Ballad of Guiteau, because they are both *so* upbeat and happy and excellent! And if there's one thing Sorcy likes besides pretty-voiced melancholy girls, it's upbeat, bouncy, music.

7) Sex Changes, the Dresden Dolls
Today's a very special day (Oh-ohh)
The boys will murder for a fuck, what will the neighbors say?
It leaves you feeling pretty hollow
It might be nice to look at
don't forget you're stuck with it tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow

Hey, uh, I met them yesterday. :D!!!

Coin-Operated Boy tends to be more in the forefront of my brain, just because I love the bridge so much and the lonliness (Pretty-voiced melancholy girl much? Yesyes!) but I've been listening to this one more of late.

Because it's awesome. And plausibly about girls turning into boys --I dunno, I'm rubbish at hearing/interpreting lyrics. The music is so great though. *hearts*

I tag Katters and anyone else who wants to babble about their music to me.

Reading the lyrics, Sex Changes seems to be about unplanned pregnancy and abortion. But, yeah, even then bits of the song really don't make sense. So I guess it's open to interpretation.
