Nov. 12th, 2021 11:40 pmAfter having a day off yesterday, coming back to work today was _hard_. The kids were revved up and didn't want to do work, I was revved down and didn't want to do work, and oh yeah, the internet died around noon and basically didn't work the rest of the time. Which wasn't..catestrophic, my kids don't do online work and I had my slides all made and ready. But it meant I couldn't comfortably do my end-of-day things and means I left work feeling unsatisfied.
My bike threw a nut the other day, so I rode a BlueBike into work today. But the driving rain seemed more unpleasant to bike home in than to walk, so pedestrian I was. I really appreciate living close enough to work that "eh, I'll just walk home" actually is a feasible concept. I cued up a podcast and set out! Got home soaking wet, obviously, but pleasantly shocked to find that my leather satchel is extremely waterproof. Fantastic!
Tomorrow is my first practice as Ringing Master of Old North. I threw my name into the ring at the AGM earlier this week, because like, I genuinely believe I could do a decent job if I can get my brain out of the way. We'll find out if the confidence is misfounded! At least I get to start with fairly small practice, it looks like.
(I am way _way_ more nervous about this than I expected to be. ~what if I do a bad job and my friends don't like me anymore!~ (I don't actually expect this to happen -either side of it. I don't think I'll do a bad job, and if I do, I don't think people will stop being my friend over it, I think they'll just help me do better next time.))
Tonight was a powerpoint party and I got to babble about Assassins a bit. It went...I dunno, I assume fine? Everyone was running dreadfully over, so the next one will absolutely be serious about its time limit.
I dunno. I am cold and tired and going to go to sleep and then maybe tomorrow I will frantically make pancakes before having to deal with Red Line Hell in the probably rain. I hope your life is good too!
