Adventuring to other states

I spent all day on a bussss! WOO!
I mean, technically I spent about 5.5 hours total on a bus. That's all! That's not too bad! More importantly, I like that I successfully made it within five miles of my grandparents house, entirely on public transit. That feels like an infrastructure success, and I would like to see more of that in the world.
I also astonished basically the entire family, who did not know there was a CT transit bus. I am pleased by the fact that there _is_ infrastructure in various places, even if it is...you know...twice per day (half an hour apart) and weekdays only. I'm glad I don't have to go home the same way, just because I think it'd be harder to coordinate.
There's fourteen of us present --two grandparents, 9/10 of dad and his sibs and their partners (no Auntie Sue), and 3/9 grandkids (me, Zoe, Cass). No great-grandkids yet, although I learned that cousin Katie is busy gestating the first of those, which is pretty cool. Bigger than some Thanksgivings, smaller than others.
Tomorrow I intend to spend a bunch of time Fucking Around The Farm. Mostly this will involve looking for bugs and thrashing around on the stone wall that's behind the house. There's a small chance it will involve getting a giant tree limb out of the pond somehow (the uncles were brainstorming various Bad Ideas for it). I might go look and see if there are any horses? I will almost certainly go on a Bug Hunt, because this is me and I do like me a bug.
On Sunday, mom and Zoe and I are going to go to the AMERICAN MUSEUM OF TORT LAW! This is going to be a Fun Times!!! They apparently have a gallery room full of DANGEROUS TOYS! I am stupidly psyched.
Then Monday I head down to Texas and spend a week with mom to celebrate her birthday. There will be cake for sure, and making her watch Ted Lasso (it is so good) and probably season 2 of New Zealand Taskmaster, and lots of flopping and maybe I will swim in the pool? Then home again home again where I'll have about two weeks before SCHOOL STARTS AND EVERYTHING SUCKS AGAIN.
It's been a pretty good summer, modulo pandemic. I have really enjoyed not having any actual responsibilities for a while.
That's where I'm at. Yes, I feel super weird about traveling in a worsening pandemic. Yes, I am planning to get tested upon returning home and stay inside for a few days. No, I still don't know what/if I'm going to do about my birthday party.
