Aug. 30th, 2020 01:07 amSo, just for thoroughness sake...
Wednesday was packing day, and I was up until about six thirty, then sleep until eight then more on Thursday.
Thursday was moving day with the hired folks and the truck. Ezri and Rey and I were packing right up to their arrival at 1pm, at which point we frantically threw the two of them and the cat and everything we weren't moving just then into their room, and shut the door, and I directed movers. I think between the three of us we managed to get like five more boxes packed while the movers were working!
After the movers were done putting all of our things in the truck, they also put my washer and dryer in, and delivered them to a friend, so I no longer have a washer and dryer. Yay, I suppose? (Better than leaving them, for sure.)
Then we all went off to the new house and they unloaded the truck very precisely under future-landlord-and-current-friend Dana's direction. Now Dana and Chris's house is chockablock full of twice as much furniture as necessary, and a great deal of boxen, which is extremely obliging of them.
(Dana and Chris have been moving their things to their new house, but it's still being worked on by the contractors, hence all the mucking about. Also, I found it very charming that each of them separately asked if they could read my books, since my entire library is basically in milk crates in their bedroom right now, and their library is inaccessible. I said yes, of course!)
And finally when the movers left and I had settled up with them, I was able to help Dana with a quick run of a table to her new house (won't fit as easily in her car) and then a slow drive home. I've alluded to the rest, that I was pretty much out of existence, but I'm back now.
And then it's Friday morning and my birthday! Between the pandemic and the move it was honestly not one of my better birthdays, but I did get to spend lots of time in the car listening to loud music and singing. That was keen! I drove to JP to go drop things off at Boomerangs (my favourite thrift store) and then through Roxbury to hit a goodwill for the rest of the things --managed everything except the books, which I have been sneaking into the local Little Free Libraries by the fistful.
Once I was home from that, it was time to put the remaining furniture into the car --stuff that didn't make it on to Dana's list, and therefore wasn't about to fit in the bursting-at-seams house-- and bring it to the Bananamines. It was charming to see Chris for a bit, and wave at Julia on the balcony and even be stared disdainfully at by Ivy, who turned to show me her tail, in superior cat fashion. Done with *that* and home again to eat dinner -- red lentil soup delivered by MadRobin, _delicious_-- and to repack the car. This time the theme was "hanging clothing" to bring to jere7my's house, since he gets the idea of ball gowns and kilts and how maybe they shouldn't be shoved haphazard into a box for a month.
A nice chat with jere7my and a bit of a walk around the neighborhood, then home again for falling asleep *thump bump* still so much to do. And don't forget an Animal Crossing celebration and party, which felt very nice to experience and I was very happy about.
(Oh, and between thrift and bananamines I got to talk to my parents on the zoom for Mandatory Family Fun, and that was nice).
*snoring sounds* until Saturday which is today. Wake up and eat something and start poking around in a semi-helpful manner, and manage to entirely load the car again for a second load of things to go to the Bananamines and hide in their depths.
Return in time to load the car for a run to Dana and Chris's, and this time Ezri is coming along! We put things away in the future house, and then drive back to fry various things from the freezer (so we don't have to pack them or throw them away). This means that my "dinner" was essentially a couple mango sticky rice rolls and a third a taro pancake, and then my second dinner was ice cream, so maybe I should have some more of that leftover lentil soup before bed.
But after dinner it is time to finagle The Wardrobe, which we are delivering to Somerville. Again Ezri is coming along, and driving, because it turns out my brain was apparently fried from like seventeen recent trips and I scraped the bumper into the stupid wall of our stupid driveway. It wasn't great. But it was nice to have company, and Ezri is much more impulsive about stopping to investigate curb shop stuff, which is...like, I don't want anything more right now but it's fun to shop!
(We got a 2x2 expidite terribly painted but otherwise solid, a plastic set of drawers, and a cat climbing thing.)
At home I shwoop off to Veronica's Animal Crossing island to tell the naked dog he should wish her a happy birthday, and then I call Austin and chat with him while packing up my room. That was really nice --it's been ages since I've seen him! And I got the most of my room stuff packed --it's really just the things I will actively need tomorrow morn, like clothes and meds and my bed.
I also took a walk to one of those aforementioned little free libraries, where against my better judgement, I swiped the copy there of This Is How You Lose The Time War. I did put more books into the thing than took out, but still, I am trying to have _less_ stuff right now.
Still left to do on Saturday night is WASH MY HAIR since I won't want to do it at the hotel at all. Then if I have energy, I'd like to move everything out of my room and do a full clean of it, but I'm definitely starting to lag. Maybe everything left for today is to wash my hair and perhaps have a bit of soup. (If not, it's *definitely* coming to the hotel with us.)
Tomorrow is Sunday and we will:
*Go to the storage unit with some last big things
*Come back and clean madly, and also give away the last-last big thing
*Clean clean clean clean
*Pack up the car and Rey and Ezri and Nigel will go to The Hotel! Meanwhile, I will CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!
*Ezri will return to me after seeing the lay of the land. Hopefully I'll be done with the vacuum cleaner by then. We'll do one very last carload of things to the future house (vacuum, microwave, step stool) and then fill the car with the dregs of the house and go off to the hotel where we will stay for the next month.
School starts at 8am on Monday1.
Goodnight!
