Jan. 2nd, 2016 01:21 amI am in a room full of laaaaaaidies!
It is the first day of 2016. I stayed in my pyjamas until about 4:30, at which point I put on a pretty dress. The whole day was spent hanging out with awesome Scottish dancers. There was a lot of cuddling, some playing of with hair (I did Leia buns for the first time, they looked awesome), bomb defusal, good food, and just hours and hours of wonderful conversation.
As always, ain't no party like a Scots party. I mean, obviously mom's parties are the gold standard by which all other parties are held, but every Scot-hosted party I've been to has been an absolutely rollicking good time.
And this one is being particularly awesome because I partied all day with everyone, helped cleaned up, ordered and ate pizza with the stragglers, and then when the last party guests left...there were still four of us plus our hosts ready for grapefruit margaritas and group chat conversations about emojis. Party all night long.
And *then*, after much Highly Enjoyable gossip about dance community (more sharing of stories and "do your remember that time..." than anything spiteful) our hosts pointed out "okay maybe bedtime". So the four of us houseguests go upstairs and split into rooms, which lasts all of about ten minutes until we're all in mine and Triona's room continuing to chat.
After maybe 30 minutes of that, Triona points out that we should really get ready for bed --she winds down with netflix, I write my words. Except of course her and I spend another hour shooting the shit, talking tough stuff in the same breath as terrible jokes. I am so so so happy to have her in my life --she is one of my best friends right now, and that is awesome.
So now it's one, after having "gone to bed" almost two hours ago, and I am finally getting around to these words. Am I all partied out? Oh, heck no, but it's probably time to be a responsible spider for a little bit.
Tomorrow I will attempt to do some good work, and maybe wander around outside for a bit. I'll eat good food, chat with good people, and go to a good English dance in the evening.
2016 is lovely and I am quite enjoying it so far!
