I did do the petty pronoun pins thing, and I only had to put one extra on, so that was pretty good. The ball in general was pretty good --I did ten of the 16 dances, I saw a bunch of friends, I slipped outside to show jere7my the ISS as it passed overhead, and I got a lot of compliments, so I think that means I dressed successfully.
I decided that, while I'm still not safe enough to do femme, I also wasn't really willing to do full SCD masc, and all the requisite frippiries. So the gender I went with was "angry spider queer" and it later relaxed into "slightly less angry spider queer".
I liked the part where the MCs were apologetic any time they referred to roles with binary genders, and Tim especially did a really clear job explaining how he was going to call gender neutral. I'm also gonna steal his joke where he said something like "face the place that ancient cultures called 'first woman'" because that was very funny.
Anyways, I somehow succeeded at gender. And then I found myself for auld lang syne next to [16yearold] who I had just waltzed with, and then [19yearold] rushed over to be on my other side, and that felt pretty joyous, having these two youngsters pleased to be with me. I want to bring them a world they will be happy and safe in.
Tomorrow is the brunch, and I'm pretty excited about that too. I'm worried desperately about clothing there, especially because I packed my insect dress, which is very cute but also femme-esque.
So yeah. Have some photos:

Loooook I'm cute!!!!

Also my eyebrow game is quality, which I don't usually say.
Particular notes:
I am wearing four orange spiders, thanks TwistedSpiders, your shit is quality!
I am wearing black lipstick under the mask, because I'm not an amateur, and also my black lippy is the only one I can trust to actually dry on my lips and not rub off.
The eye makeup is one hundo percent me ripping off season-four-of-Game-Changer Erika Ishii. It's super fun to just slather your face in eyeshadow! I gotta keep doing this, I look great!
Anywho, it's bedtime now goodnight!

on 2024-05-15 07:11 pm (UTC)You are far from the only person sad about their closure; one of my partners bought a bunch at the closing-down sale and does not look forward to eventually running out of functional Airgamis.
One of my co-workers has been wearing KN95s in black, burgundy, and some other colors allowing some coordination with outfits though they're neither as spiffy-looking (nor, I suspect, as comfortable/functional) as the Airgami design; I don't know where they've bought from (or even if that vendor is still around), but if that info would be helpful to you then I can try asking when I get a chance.
