Steerswoman is SO GOOD and I am SO MAD that it is no closer to finished now than when I found it fifteen years ago. It is one of the few story-fragments that I will nevertheless recommend. (See also Aspects by John M. Ford, though for other reasons. Hm, though the middle section of Aspects is ... it's very Callahan's in feel. So, yeah, you actually SHOULD see Aspects.)
Currently 3/4 through the first of the Elemental Logic books and it is also v v good. The prose is of a flavour I normally bounce off of, which makes it slower going than I'd like, but very much worth the effort.
