Name check

I just did the semi-regular check-in of googling my full name in quotes in an incognito browser to see what comes up.

I am happy to report that my secret plan of "what if I made a spare twitter and instagram using my actual name and used them just often enough to seem like they're legit" was a _smashing_ success -If you google "full-firstname wallet-lastname" those ought to be the first two hits you see (followed by someone else's facebook).

((Don't...follow me on those unless you have an actual professional reason to be in those spheres, or are a family member (V counts as family).))

I am miffed to report that it is still possible to get from there to here (here being the handle "Sorcyress")...if you're willing to wade through eight solid pages of results and click on a random archived-but-still-visible page from a defunct ning group. Specifically, it gives you "short-firstname chosen-lastname".

Actually searching "short-firstname chosen-lastname" is hilarious because wow, you get basically _nothing_ of me. That name clearly belongs to someone else, by law of "who has most hits on google". But if you're not foolish, you maybe try full-firstname chosen-lastname and whoooops very first hit gives you Sorcyress, and so does the second and the third and ah well. Honestly, at that point, you deserve it.

I am still the (almost) singular Sorcyress on the internet. I did find one profile for one random website, joined in 2000 (!) and never used or updated. Considering I didn't take on the handle until about a half decade later (and didn't even get internet access until 2003) there you go, the single instance of not-me.

Overall, I am pleased with my effective subterfuge, not that I particularly need it right now in a "not job hunting" phase of my life. Time to forget about this for several more years (by which point maybe the website page with the trumpists making fun of my teeth1 will finally have been taken down...oh, as an aside, never say anything negative about the cops ever2 because jegus fuck, bootlickers are so _boring_ with their insults. I'm not laughing because I didn't get the joke, I'm not laughing because you just aren't funny)

Now back to other parts of life, what I can pay attention to outside of The End Of The World. Hope you're well.

MOOP!

1: No I won't share, go find it yourself if you care that much. Shockingly, no one called me a misogynistic slur, unlike the messages I got on facebook.

2: In October of 2016, I said the cops were shitty (but in a much more polite and reasonable way) publicly on facebook for doing something kinda shitty3 and then there were a couple news articles about it and then apparently a trash-ass white supremacist rag was all "oh my god the triggered SJWs are ruining Halloween!". Anyways, variations on this bullshit appear like four times when you google search my name, and are the only news articles I've been in, so there's my legacy woo.

3: I mean, on the cop scale of shittiness, which includes things like "murder twelve year olds (because they're black)" "murder neuro-atypical people (because they're black)", "murder sleeping women (because they're black)" and "let terrorists attempting a violent coup into the capitol building (because they're white)", it really wasn't worth commenting on. But, you know.

I don't tend to use google search, but I tried it. My name is quite common, and superficially, it only came up with my twitter page, although I'm sure that if I were doing a more careful search, I'd find my voter registration etc. There used to be a list of ringers' email addresses, and I think I might have come up that way, but it was removed when the UK tightened its online privacy requirements. I object to facebook in many ways, but I was part of it for a year around 2011 or so to participate in study group action. I dropped the account (although surely they have me on file somewhere, like the FBI), and have tried to stay unmentioned since. I have a gmail address for the same kind of reason, and use the google stuff that is nearly required for being a Boston ringer, but hate it. I have a fake name (my only one) for youtube. I presume they have linked me to my real self somewhere in their guts, but it didn't show up in the search. I have an ancestry.com account, but the google search for my name only turned on LD trees in Texas, for some reason. Not me.

In my birth family, people looked at teeth before any other facial feature, due to the prejudices of my grandfather and great-uncle, who were dentists. (I never asked why they left the farm to become dentists, as opposed to any other non-farming occupation). I haven't particularly noted your teeth, so I can't imagine what people were complaining about.

My blog used to be the top result for my wallet name on Google but then all these jerks with the same name started having websites and news articles and stuff too, so not anymore. (9th entry on first page of results still, though.) I guess that's probably fine. My older blog posts are embarrassing anyhow.
