Small good (round) things

Some small nice things:
*I finally broke through the ExecDysfunc stopping me from planning my October dance lessons I am delivering over zoom this month, which is good as it was the night of my tech rehearsal (can everyone hear me? and the music? relatively in sync with my dancing? while seeing my feet?). I'm not _done_ planning, but I made serious and actual progress.
*I commissioned a piece of art, and the art is a very round turtle made of yarn (I think it's knitted but I don't actually remember for sure) and it is SO CUTE and very squoosh and I like it EXTREMELY MUCH.
*I actually read an appreciable number of dreamwidth flist entries for today (which is to say more than 20! A whole page's worth!) which is _extremely different_ to the last...uh...since before the move probably? I have missed y'all and this is the good energy.
*Speaking of The Good Energy, driving home from dance involved listening to a lot of VERY LOUD music and that was all REALLY good. Highlights include Ida turning over to Die Vampire Die just as I was making the last few turns to home (so obvs I finished that one in the parking lot) and hitting Call Me A Hole1 just as I was getting started on the journey (and therefore jump-starting me into the "yeah, we're gonna sing and it's gonna be loud and joyous and hell yes").
*I ate a salad for dinner, because when I got home Ezri had made it, and vegetables are good for me. Soon I am gonna eat ice cream because that is also good for me.
I love you and care about you and hope you are managing to do healthy things for yourself. I will continue to try and document the healthy things I'm doing for myself!

1: Would you like one of my favourite mash-ups? Call Me A Hole layers the music of "Call Me Maybe" under the lyrics of "Head Like A Hole". It is designed to make two different genres of music-lovers heads' hurt and it does it VERY NICELY!

on 2020-10-07 11:47 am (UTC)I've only heard a weirdly narrow cross-section of popular music from the last 50 years, so a lot of mashups fall flat for me, but apparently I managed to hear Call Me Maybe at some point. :-)
(I really liked Neil Cicierega's Mouth Silence, but some of his later mashup albums go farther into territory where I don't know the source, and it just sounds like... music.)

on 2020-10-07 07:49 pm (UTC)One of the things I appreciate about really good mashups (of which most of NeilCic applies) is that they sound like music. I'm much _much_ less interested in the "here's 25 songs in four minutes WOOO!" nonsense, unless it's done very pointedly like Four Chord Song. (them ending with the lyric "doesn't that sound familiar?" is *chef kiss*)
