Mope mope mope

Bah.
So I was already feeling existential and mopey because I am fully capable of doing that when I don't manage to do anything including successfully talk to people on the internet.
And then I found out that LA Meyer died back in July and fuucccccccck noooooo. I am grateful that he managed to get the last Bloody Jackie Faber book ready for publishing before he did, although now I am in the same position where I am with Douglas Adams, to wit, if I read all the works then they are really truly gone.
I mean, I probably will. I really like the Bloody Jack books, once I got out of the mindset of "but why does she have so many adventures this is implausible" and into the "oh right, these are tall tales, of course she has all the greatest adventures". They are realistic, they edge up against the Regency (which is a period familiar to me), there is lots of crossdressing, sometimes Jacky is a pirate queen...ffff. I haven't wanted to be a book character so much since Talia, basically.
Mostly I am coping by saying fuck a lot, and planning to reread the series in the very near future. Goddess all bless, Cap'n Meyer. You did a wonderful thing. Thanks for sharing Jacky with the rest of us.
And now I am going to go the fuck to sleep. (Or at least, I will once I have finished chatting with Kirby1, because actually talking to people on IM is one of the best socialmethods and I don't wanna neglect him while I've got him.)

on 2015-02-02 04:53 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed it too, and will try to do more of it with you. I really like actually actively IMing with people --don't get me wrong, I enjoy the more time-delayed aspects as well, but it can be really nice to just be shooting back and forth real quick. Something I miss about not being a part of any regular chatrooms anymore.
