We at ARSES1 are trying lightly to get something to be going on every weekend or so, because damnit, this was supposed to be a party house, and we have all fallen down on the job. To that end, I hosted a video night last weekend, and Sparr hosted games this weekend.
My video night went quite well. Turnout was a little lower than I expected/hoped, but people did show up and eat chips and be friendly and enjoy Linguini Incident and *really* enjoy St. Trinian's. So I'm going to go ahead and call it a success, and tentatively call the next video night for March 8th. Theme will be "movies with really stupid plots that they took really seriously and therefore everything was awesome". Movies will be Snakes on a Plane and Pacific Rim.
Meanwhile, this games party had a slightly higher number of people than the last one (yay!) and so more games got played. I taught
mindways and Sparr Iota, and then Sparr broke out Love Letter, which got about eighteen rounds played. When it was time for heavier fare, we played a lovely game of Underground (which is quickly becoming my favourite "train game"2) and about half a game of Lost Cities (board/3 player).
There were also quite a lot of cupcakes, and some very good snuggling. So ultimately, I'm calling this one a success!
Now it is time for bed, so I will be well-rested for adventures tomorrow. I hear I am going to go climb on things and take photographs and hopefully find interesting wildlife. Joy!

1: Abbess Radcliffe's Sanctuary for the Enhancement of Sin
2: I am not super invested in the stock market elements of 18xx games, but I do like track laying and optimization. Ticket to Ride is great, Transamerica isn't bad, Underground is lovely, all the more so because it's got a slightly stupid premise (we are laying all this track for the single passenger of the London Underground. Uh-huh.)
