Yesterday was pretty great! I opted not to go to the Regency Assembly (for a combination of mostly money but also my-foot-has-been-acting-up and mental health), which proved to be the right decision, as the day unspiraled out before me.
I woke up and managed to have a lazy morning with just Sparr --the roommates were out hiking mountains or doing similarly rugged and awesome things. So I made pancakes and he and I did happysnugglythings, and finally decided to go off to the Mini-Maker Faire being held in Union Square. A dozen or so booths were clustered into the square, and packed full of mad engineers showing off their projects to children (including a bottlerocket that could be fired fifty feet straight up by stomping on a bottle, and a working seven foot tall trebuchet.)
Sparr and I wandered and chatted to friends (old and new) until I couldn't take the cold anymore, then we slunk off to Artisan's Asylum to warm up and eat sammiches. This was followed promptly by heading over to
jareeta's housewarming, which was full of bubbly exciting people and delicious food.
Home again home again this morning. Today's plan is not-archery (unfortunately), and Arlington Open Studios. And quite probably pie, which means two days of apple pie in a row.
This is a good October.
