MOOP!

1: Now in Chicago!
2: Cambridge is intentionally not on this list, but if you have other suggestions for "not too hellish a (public transit) commute from the Porter/Davis area of Somerville" I'm open to hear them.
3: Yes singular. If you have one that you can get rid of, I'd like it. Ideally the left, but I wouldn't say no to the right. This is because I am hardcore.

I have Zipcar. All I had to do was sign up online. They didn't want a copy of my driving record or anything else like that.

Most insurance companies do both car & renters. I've been a huge fan of GEICO (and I believe they go through Travelers for rental) for years -- they didn't bat an eye or raise my rates when I had to make a renter's claim either and there is a discount for carrying both with the same company -- I would guess most companies would do that.

Why does everyone ask that about back tattoos? I've finally decided what I want for mine and everyone's like "Why do you want it where you can't see it?" Because that's where I want it. It's my body.

Also on the insurance front; Medical/Health and Life -- I'm a licensed agent, have been for 7 years, and generally have a clue. Feel free to pick my brain if you would like any level of advice.

Cambridge is intentionally not on this list

Out of curiosity, why not Cambridge? (I don't know much about any of the local school systems, so I don't have any particular context.)

Was wondering the same.

Also, given R's experience, I'd express a word of caution regarding Boston - the schools are SO varied in terms of school culture that it's very administration-dependent, and they're so easy to move between for students that if kids were determined to be trouble, they'd have little reason not to. Even more so than other systems, talk to your potential fellow faculty before accepting. Boston pays well, but it's essentially combat pay. Some of the schools are great, though.

Ask me offline sometime, re: Cambridge.

Thanks for the warning about Boston. I'll be sure to ask around before accepting anything.
