Dreamlog:

In anticipation of the newest Harry Potter [property], stills and trailers and the like were leaking like crazy. Of special interest of the fans were how well the movie got Ron's tattoo --after declaring himself an ally, he had gotten this trans symbol tattoo'd on his back.

I saw both a still from the movie and a page from the comic showing it off. Lots of people debating, not the fact that Ron was into trans rights, but the colours and composition of the tattoo design itself.

Or in case it wasn't pretty clear, my subconscious is kindof weird. That being said, it was kinda nice to have a world where cis allies of trans folk were utterly unremarkable. I could settle for more dreamsrealities like that.

Aww, I would like to hang out with your dream Ron.
And your dream internet has a point. The pink-violet would clash with his hair.

Unfortunately, this is also unlikely for other reasons. There's a correlation between higher income brackets and more tolerance for GLBTQE individuals. See e.g. http://socserv.mcmaster.ca/fetnert/docs/AndersenFetner_AJPS.pdf . This actually fits with a general other issue- there's similar evidence for that same pattern regarding attitudes about racial and ethnic groups. So if anything we should expect the rich individuals like the Malfoys to be more friendly with Muggles. But, in fact, in JKR's universe the more pro-Muggle groups are people like Ron's family. It isn't implausible that such a breakdown would occur specifically for some deeper reason, but Rowling never explained it or gave any sociological explanation for what was going on. While, some people have praised Rowling for having her heroes be from a variety of different British social classes, it seems to me that her own class views about the higher-income classes do color the story.

I'm probably taking this way too seriously.
