Update!

I appear to be in Texas. I also appear to have no idea what time it is. I suspect I am here for longer than I hope I am.

Time changes have left me far more a flutter than usual. I think it might've been because this is the first trip where I actually have things that matter --words and birth control both have east coast deadlines.

I bought a bagel. It was good, though they didn't give enough cream cheese.

I may be perhaps the slightest bit groggy from sleeping badly through my last flight. I also seem to have misplaced1 my bra.

California was amazing, and I had a lovely time with mek. No pictures wound up being taken, so I do not get to show you kitty. I did wind up being cultured --we watched Casablanca (which was EXCELLENT!) in the earlier half of what I am thinking of as 'today'2, and Maltese Falcon (which I kept falling asleep and waking up so I probably only got about half of it) last night3. Also, Brick, because the theme of the week was Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Neil Patrick Harris at different ages.

...dammit, now I have the Doogie Howser MD song stuck in my head. Again.

Anyways, don't know how long the free internet lasts, so I'll catch you lot later. Be good! Reports of epiphanies and requests for thoughts on photos to come later.

MOOP!

1: No, not really, it's in my pocket. I <3 cargo pants.

2: My trip left midnight Sunday (west-coast time) and arrives noon Boston (east coast time). Being as I wasn't going to be asleep midnight anytime, I kinda just started thinking of Sunday-into-Monday as one day. It's kinda trippy.

3: So, as seen above, this makes last night not Sunday night (the night of the day previous to the one I'm currently technically in) but Saturday night (the night of the day previous to the one I feel I'm in.)

"I also appear to have no idea what time it is."

It's eight o'clock, and time for the penguin on top of your television set to explode.

Casablanca and Maltese Falcon are both movies where I had to kick myself repeatedly while watching them, because it's not a cliche the first time they do it.

Also, mmmmm Brick. What an awesome film. "If you're ever looking to get back together... I could use you."

Brick was wonderful! And it was awesome to watch Maltese Falcon after, because I think I specifically pointed out that the scene where Sam tells the police to lay off him is _exactly the same_ as the scene where Brenden tells the VP to lay off him.

Heh, my husband and I just watched "500 Days of Summer" last night and were talking about how much we like Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He's a doll and a good actor. He's got a little of that spark that Heath Ledger had. Although he's so young I feel bad noticing that he's such a doll. (Oh, scratch that. He's 29, nearly 30. That's only 8 years younger than me so hardly a disturbing age difference for a minor crush.)

PS: My mom had such a crush on Neil Patrick Harris back in the day when he was still Doogie.

Is he in it? Lovely! My roomie's been trying to get me to watch it, and it has yummy yummy Zooey Deschanel in it, iirc.

JGL is supercute, and I'm really glad that (with Inception), he seems to have made the leap from playing high school characters to playing more "serious" characters. Not that Brenden (from Brick) is anything but, but it's nice to give him a chance to really act.

Two and a half hour layover in Houston, from like...five thirty to eight or something. Had it been saner hours, or had I any interest in leaving the airport, I would've gotten in touch.

Doogie Howser is a little doctor
Not like a midget, I mean he's young
Went to Princeton when he was only ten
Even removed a lung
Good fucking god
Who is this kid?
Who the hell is this smart?
I think the brat is possessed
He made a deal with Satan
Now his success never ends
He's the anti-christ and will kill us all

You forgot your bats here.
