Trick or Teeth!

I took bunches of pictures of this year's Halloween costume, mostly because I am going to put it together in its 2.0 form and try to enter it into the masquerade at Arisia this year (unless I get distracted1, or come up with a really good sketch for Ashley Ketchum2 or a really good costume for Ninja Seamstresses3).
So yes. I was the Tooth Fairy! I had much fun, bowing to other fairies I saw out on the streets (including a totes adorable fairydog), and playing -as Brenton termed it- Character Chicken with other people in fancy costumes, when you each try to be so outlandish and over the top that you make the other break character and giggle. I spent a lot of time examining people's teeth, and offering them shiny dollar coins from my little red bag.
So, one of the most interesting parts of this costume was the fact that I had to make wings, being a fairy and all. Luckily, fairy wings are one of the easiest things in the entire world to make --all you need are some coat hangers, and some old stretched out tights or pantyhose.

I so don't recommend using brand new tights, as then the wings are forced to be incredibly narrow, but that just meant I got to decide that tooth fairies have narrow pointy wings like dragonflies. Yay!
I may or may not decide these need glitter at some point. That's true of basically the entire costume.

And here is the whole costume! It was taken after all of trick or treating, when I was tired, and with my real camera in someone else's hands, so it's not great (my camera is not great), but it gives you a good sense of the costume.

Here is the costume at the beginning of the night, taken with my crappy little webcam, with a much less sedate background. That is Ria there, being a cameo, and she is wearing make-up to make her look like a skull!
The elements of the costume you can't see include that I'm wearing my hair in a bun, with a toothbrush in there to hold it together, that I'm wearing fantastic grey and black stockings, and that I'm wearing my grey 8-bit skull chucks that I wore to prom.
The elements of the costume that you *can* see are my prom dress, a plain black long-sleeved shirt, black fingerless gloves with switchblades on them, a bandolier of toothbrushes (so much fun!), a bandolier of other tools (including a flashlight, a bunch of keys, a bag containing about 14.25 in coins (and two teeth!), and a BIG PAIR OF PLIARS!), my wings, and of course, my teeth-earrings, which are so amazingly rad.
You can see a close-up of the earrings here.
I have plans for the future of this costume, but mostly they are going to wait for me to eat a whole lot of candy and write a couple novels.
Happy Halloween!
