SOME HAPPY THINGS!

*I am back in Maryland, which means I got to hug Veronica yesterday. This is a supergood thing.

*I am driving up to PA to hang out with Laur and Emily and their friend Rob and probably Ty and I might even bring Veronica, and it will be a right exciting time of things

*Dog, lacking something better to do with his 750words, wrote 750 words worth of limericks on assorted topics. I requested Lost Boys.

*Mostly because I just watched Lost Boys for the first time. The Frog Brothers are rad.

*Oh, and speaking of 750words, I have done all my days so far. Hoorah and such! (Yes yes, three days, such an accomplishment, whatever)

*Alys and I bonded over reading creepypasta --which I am now defining as "the internet's version of scary campfire stories". I continued to work out the fairly obvious hypothesis that pretending to be brave in order to show off for younger siblings really does make the fear go away some.

*JoshZed and I also bonded over reading creepypasta, though that was more working on the hypothesis that some people need to take a deep breath, remember Sturgeons LawRevelation and the MST3K Mantra, and stop treating stupid stories on the internet to quite so much analysis. (Er, I mean...I luv you, JoshZed? Don't stop being wonderful? Aw shit, I'm in trouble now aren't I?)

*I continue to be strong and awesome, even if I don't recognize it.

*I've been talking a bunch with BDan and Herbert again, both of whom have been a little off my radar which is a shame.

*I GET TO SLEEP IN A REAL BED HAAHAHAHAHHA AND WITH WHITE BEAR WHEEEE AND THIS IS SUPER GOOD YAY!

Oh, and I might get my wisdom teeth out sometime. Possibly winter break. Which means that I've twice this week been prompted to think about how New Years is gonna go down, and what madness is going to happen. Which is not actually a good thing because I really don't want to have to think about New Years yet, so this bit has no business in a happythings post. Oh well.

*And as always, I am traveling through time, and in the morning when I wake up, I will be in the future!! And it is amazing how much that matters, how happy that can make me. Oh well, I never claimed I wasn't an easy audience.

I love creepypasta so much. I often read it at work, and probably shouldn't, because while no particular scenario makes me scared, the body of work as a whole makes me feel vaguely paranoid and unsettled. Some of the best micro-fictions ever are circulated as creepypasta, and taken as a whole they touch on a lot of universal human fears.

Have you read the guide (http://www.creepypasta.com/survival-guide/)?

Concerning myself:

4. If you are alone at night in a creepy mental institution, take some time to consider what the fuck are you doing there, then, if it is appropriate to do so, leave.

...the answer to 'What the fuck am I doing here?' is usually 'Working.' and the answer to 'Is it appropriate to leave?' is 'No.'

These facts, taken together, really explain rather a lot about why I really shouldn't read creepypasta at work, but probably also about why I do so anyway.

I have read the guide!

I too enjoy the heck out of creepypasta, and definitely shouldn't, as I am a big damn wuss when it comes to scary stories. So, yes, last night when I went into my room, I checked all the human sized places and closed the door and turned on all the lights.

Oh nooooo. I can definitely see the appeal of reading creepypasta in a creepy mental institution alone at night, but still, EEK!

I comfort myself over many of them with the fact that I am not going to do any of them. I am quite happy to spend my February 29ths and 33 year behaving normally, thank you very much.

I had not seen that guide before. 1 and 2 are particularly amusing. Reading that list makes me realize just how many of those I break on a semi-regular basis. I should be surprised that I'm not hacked to death yet, possessed, damned, shunted into an alternate world, or something even weirder.

(I'm surprised incidentally that my analysis of the stories was that annoying to Kat. I mean, some of the stories are good, but seriously, being within a mile of a graveyard is a reason for a house to be haunted? WTF?)

In New England, it's almost impossible to NOT be within a mile of a gravesite - marked or unmarked.

Rules I have broken in the past seven days:

1 and 2: the light in the staff bathroom's been broken for like a month now. After dark, you need to use a flashlight.
4: I work there
9: I've never handled any sort of firearm. Unless nerf or airsoft count.
15: There isn't a bible in my house.
16: Nor are there any acids stronger than white vinegar. Or any Holy water for that matter.
19: Steampunks + potable liquid = amusing bottles full of innocuous (usually alcoholic) liquids. Like rum labeled 'Embalming Fluid'
21: New England. That is all.
23: I -don't- have the money.
27: ...but most things DON'T have nicknames. I'm going to assume that 'Velcro' is the one true name of my dog. I invoke it all the time.
31: ....yeah.
32: I actually own a number of different genres of chanting on mp3. Gregorian, Buddhist, etc...
33: There's a doll on the shelf above me right now.
36: "Don't look back, and don't run. You must never run from anything
immortal, it attracts their attention." - The Unicorn, from The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle.

Yeah, the graveyard stuff I break semi-regularly, but generally during daytime so I figure it isn't quite as bad...

The Lost Boys is amazing. I can't believe you'd never seen it before. Also the music is just the best. :D

Man, I've not seen any movies practically. I did recognize all the music though, from mom playing it in the car and stuff.

Have you seen Killer Klowns From Outer Space? If not, and you liked The Lost Boys, then you totally should. I think the title speaks for itself.
