Alton Brown is like Bill Nye, except for food. I love his show. I like the fact that, aside from the sciency stuff, if he ends up with two options for making something, one very gourmet and food-as-art and time-consuming/difficult, and the other just a "good 'nuff" copy, he'll pick the latter every time, with the explanation that he just doesn't like cooking that much.

I get said cleaning done at, um, odd hours sometimes

2am is an entirely reasonable time to start overhaul-cleaning a room. I do that all the time.
