Because they like the silky smooth feeling? Because they have boyfriends who like the silky smooth feeling and are okay for doing this for them? I don't know, but I'm sure there are reasons for them.
If it's because "oh shit, my legs might accidentally be shown and THEY'D BE HAIRY, then I laugh scornfully. It mostly just irritates me when people think it's the end of the world to be hairy.
