So, apparently, June 2009 is officially LGBT Pride Month.
...That's kinda awesome! I am proud of being me! Clearly I have to go kiss some girls (preferably while dressed like a boy) to celebrate!
***
In other news, I was on the news today --Fox45 was doing a piece on the Maryland MS bike ride, and mom went to be all "volunteering is awesome!" So yeah. I woke up at six fifteen in the morning and put on a corset, and then got to stand in the background holding a pirate flag. My life is a charmed one.
((And the only reason this was at all tolerable was because Brenton --a friend I picked up from Balticon and have been keeping each other up far too late at night ((:eyes:))-- had to get up at six for work, so the two of us wound up texting each other all morning.))

Work was pretty much hell today. Although
shadowcaptain visited --that is decidedly less hellish.
Also, I bought a steampunky dress and some CDs.

Ohhey, Veronica and Jeremy are here. Awesomesauce!

on 2009-06-04 12:05 am (UTC)Hell, I'm probably not going to get the polyamorous acknowledgement in my lifetime. I'd like to at least be able to tell people I'm bisexual without them being totally confused or horrified. Oddly, I feel that having a month where I'm reminded that I *should* be proud of myself, yes, even this aspect that a lot of people find deviant and weird and wrong, kind of nice.

on 2009-06-04 02:28 am (UTC)You might just think of your blood as that red stuff that keeps your body full of oxygen, but to a hematologist, blood is just the most fascinating thing there ever was. Gendersex is my blood. ((Okay, not literally, that would be weird.))
Additionally, being proud of myself for being bisexual is not similar to being proud for liking coke and pepsi. There is not a deep negative social stigma to liking both coke and pepsi. I don't have to ever think twice before I admit I like both drinks, and take the gamble that I won't freak the other person out. Growing up in this country, with all the myriad media influences, has taught me that my bisexuality is something to be ashamed of. That same country telling me it's okay to be proud...it means a lot.
