I had to go looking quite a bit further back than I thought I would to find the entry from the last time Tuesday and I went to a comedy show. What even is time?

Anyways, tonight's adventure was seeing BriTANicK, an internet sketch comic duo who've been making funny videos for, I dunno, fifteen years or so? They were performing a fabulous, tightly paced, throwback-heavy, goofy as all hell sketch comedy show, and I laughed really fucking hard. If you're in Philly, go see them on Sunday night!

Unlike the last time we Attended A Comedy, in which we were waaaay up in the nosebleed seats, this performance was at The Rockwell in Davis sq, a wee little arts venue and bar in a basement under the Burren. It was my first time attending a show there, and it was a completely different feel --we were second row on stage right, despite arriving nearly twenty minutes after doors opened. The show felt cozy and intimate and close and we got to exchange a few words with both Brian and Nick afterwards. The men are consummate performers, and very polite and good in crowds --it was a lot of fun to eavesdrop on them connecting with their adoring public!

I am finding I really enjoy going to comedy shows. This shouldn't be surprising --I've always been comedy over drama when it comes to my entertainment preferences-- but it's not a space I've ever regularly been a part of. Gonna keep my ears open for more stuff though! If nothing else, the enthusiastic new art director of The Rockwell made sure to tell everyone about an upcoming comedy week they're going to have the first week of April. Maybe I'll try some of that?

In summation, it turns out that famous people on the internet are also just regular dudes who are really funny and will perform funny for you sometimes. Huzzah!

Today was a miniature sword ale, in Inman square! Tuesday's mom heard about it somehow (because there are only so many ritual dancers, and they talk to each other) and let us know, and so we packed up and joined the ale for pubs 2+3 of four. It was like 3-4 rapper teams taking turns performing, and mostly just lots of hanging out in the pub with a bunch of friends and loved ones.

I was coming directly from bells, which was lovely because Kyle and Rachel were also eager to go see the nonsense, so the three of us could travel together. We also persuaded Abby to join us, since we weren't too far from our house, and she'd never seen rapper dancing before. There is now half-joking-but-only-half-and-it's-getting-smaller about starting a post-Saturday-bellringing rapper practice group and working out how to do this knot theory from first principles. We'll see if I have enough energy to obtain some swords or 'swords'.

It was also nice to "go to the pub after bellringing" even though the pub was like 45 minutes from post-bells lunch, what with waiting for the T and walking from Union station and everything. This is a very traditional part of the hobby that Boston just...doesn't do. Don't get me wrong, I am _thrilled_ that the social after my hobby is not contingent on alcohol culture, I am absolutely pleased as punch to just do lunch around the haymarket instead. But as a once in a while treat, it is charming to go sip a drink and eat fries with fellows, especially with the bonus of good fiddle music and rapid stepping in the background.

(also, I did like that Rachel gave me the bottom third of her sour beer, since she didn't want to finish it before we left, and I had several sips --this might be the secret beer! Sour is the magic word for things I like to drink! It tasted hardly like beer at all, and I did learn the name of it but immediately forgot it forever. Oh well. it's good to maybe have a starting point for future beer adventures, if I ever decide to have them, which I probably mostly won't.)

Anyways, Tues and I peeled off after the third pub and grabbed ice cream from Christina's on our walk to the bus. A quick swing by the supermarket to get matzoh meal for Ezri, and then home again home again, for snuggles, watching more Flight of the Conchords, and Matzoh Ball Soup.

It's a good night.
