Feb. 3rd, 2024 01:18 amI had to go looking quite a bit further back than I thought I would to find the entry from the last time Tuesday and I went to a comedy show. What even is time?
Anyways, tonight's adventure was seeing BriTANicK, an internet sketch comic duo who've been making funny videos for, I dunno, fifteen years or so? They were performing a fabulous, tightly paced, throwback-heavy, goofy as all hell sketch comedy show, and I laughed really fucking hard. If you're in Philly, go see them on Sunday night!
Unlike the last time we Attended A Comedy, in which we were waaaay up in the nosebleed seats, this performance was at The Rockwell in Davis sq, a wee little arts venue and bar in a basement under the Burren. It was my first time attending a show there, and it was a completely different feel --we were second row on stage right, despite arriving nearly twenty minutes after doors opened. The show felt cozy and intimate and close and we got to exchange a few words with both Brian and Nick afterwards. The men are consummate performers, and very polite and good in crowds --it was a lot of fun to eavesdrop on them connecting with their adoring public!
I am finding I really enjoy going to comedy shows. This shouldn't be surprising --I've always been comedy over drama when it comes to my entertainment preferences-- but it's not a space I've ever regularly been a part of. Gonna keep my ears open for more stuff though! If nothing else, the enthusiastic new art director of The Rockwell made sure to tell everyone about an upcoming comedy week they're going to have the first week of April. Maybe I'll try some of that?
In summation, it turns out that famous people on the internet are also just regular dudes who are really funny and will perform funny for you sometimes. Huzzah!
