Happy Erev Christmas, to those who celebrate!

Things are going pretty well roundabouts these parts. Mom and I had a relatively short (but important!) list ToDo today, full of things like "go to the grocery store for last minute Chrimbodinner supplies" and "find stockings" and "wrap presents".

I don't remember if I've mentioned, but I'm doing Only Child Christmas this year, which is...it's definitely weird. I mean, I've spent enough time hanging out with my parents on various visits that I'm pretty used to the vibes, but there's a little bit of undercurrent where it's not particularly ~christmas~ or whatever because it's just me.

(Alys is still in ~Europe~ for the end of her totally awesome getting to spend four months doing research in Rome. She's done the Rome part, and I believe indicated on her call this morning that her and the boyf are in Greece right now? Sounds splendid! Shannon is just still in Seattle, because of work-timing-getting-days-off-snafus betwixt her and her girlf.)

But it was nice to get to do a little Escape-Room-Box puzzle with the parents. It was a little deck of eighteen cards (and about ten puzzles) to solve Who Ate The Missing Christmas Cookie. It made for a pretty good evening entertainment, and was much less frustrating than the jigsaw puzzle da has been working on since July. In his defense, it's a 3000 piece one (anything over a thousand pieces is "bullshit unfun hard" in my opinion instead of "a cool challenge!". 2000 pieces is well more than twice as hard as 1000.)

Also in his defense, it's some piece of medieval art from back when there were only about six colours of paint and all the ones that weren't brown were expensive. So the palette of the jigsaw is...limited, and it makes it hard to figure out where certain pieces go. To put it another way, I managed to get _five_ pieces put together and I am inordinately proud of my serious progress.

After family puzzle night, I went off to wrap presents and da snuck off to bed without reading me the Night Before Christmas. What he doesn't realize is that we *will* be having a three kids late chrimbo in February and I *will* make him read it then.

...But also I'm gonna read it to mom tonight before we go to bed. (Current order of things: Finish dinner and words, watch a taskmaster, read a book, brush teeth, go to sleep!)

Tomorrow will be food and stockings and presents and more food and hanging with the parents and Wicked Auntie Robin. Then maybe we will have some days to try and actually Get Stuff Done --there are books to sort through and packing to work on and other exciting nonsense.

Have a nice night and a nice tomorrow <3
