P-p-p-party time
Nov. 17th, 2019 01:28 amI went to a party!
That alone is astonishing. I mentioned to someone I hadn't seen in a while that I genuinely don't think I've gone to a party with this particular social group (burners/kinksters/blues dancers/circus artists/makers) since fucking _Sparr_ moved away, and that was in like...2014? So this was a very good thing to do!
When I arrived at the party, there was literally no one I knew except one of the four hosts (it was partially a housewarming) which was...not really what I was hoping for. But I did a little bit of "be quiet and assess the situ" and a little bit of the "be quick witted and tell horrible jokes" and that got me through until some other people I knew showed up.
And then there were like...half a dozen or so people I know and like and haven't seen in an age! I got to chat about their lives, and my exhausting ex, and coming out stories, and sex, and biking, and buying houses, and therapy, and all sorts of nice things! It was a really good time, and a chance to rebuild some good connections and I'm feeling very pleased.
The macro party was fantastic as well! There was some good dancing, and I drank a pickle shot, and there was a dungeon where they were giving tours. The invitation hadn't mentioned any kind of dress code, but just about everyone (especially at the beginning of the party) was dressed some kind of queer fancy, which means cat ears and velvet jumpsuits and sparkly dresses and fantastic paisley shirts. My lipstick matched my pants --which I got complimented on-- and I feel like I had made a good effort.
So I'm happy to have done that. And then at midnight I managed to be the mature one and run around and give hugs for twenty minutes and finally leave at a decent hour so I can theoretically go to bed on time. I'm running almost a half hour late, so not _really_ but I'm still much happier about this plan than I otherwise would be.
I hope you had a good night, whatever adventure you were doing!
