My first impression is that there is no snow, and that's a pretty awesome thing to experience right now, given the sheer impressiveness of how snowfucked Boston is right now.
(favourite recent memes: this photo of a stop sign and the line "Snowpiercer is a documentary about the T" to which I was forced to reply "no, the train in Snowpiercer actually runs!")
My second through tenth impressions are about how rad mek is. Because, you know, he's pretty fucking rad and it's been like two years since the last time I visited him. Typically, visits to his place involve a lot of writing and video games, interspersed with watching wonderful or terrible things. Basically, it's the most vacationy of my vacations, and did I mention that the best thing about dating a writer is that we actually tend to _write_?
It's good. So far, we have not done any writing (besides me stammering through my words last night and this morning) but we have watched stuff (Horns1, Over the Garden Wall2 and Mulan3) and played Left 4 Dead and Portal. It is good.
Anyways, California is like 60 degrees, I am free from the snow, and there's a boyfriend, a snake, and two cats. Life is pretty good.

1: Contains one rape scene which, while not enjoyable and clearly a rape scene, was not the "Trigger warning, 15 minute graphic rape scene!" people online were claiming. The aesthetics were fantastic --the snakes and horns were both very lovely. The plot was decent enough. The Bechdel test was not even close to passed. Daniel Radcliffe is my secret celebrity boyfriend, no questions.
2: Technically speaking, I watched episodes 1-8 with![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
anu3bis and balsamicdragon earlier this week, but mek and I rewatched the whole thing. It is _super good!_ I highly recommend it to everyone who likes animation.
3: Specifically, we found some internet-trivia that stated that Mulan is left handed. This...was really good for like the first ten minutes of the film, but apparently Ping is right handed? The trivia does not really stand up. Mulan is a rad movie though.
