Getting things done today has included _finally finishing unpacking from Pinewoods_. I am not joking. It took me a long ass-time to get all the bits and pieces cleaned up and put away and especially to get all the laundry dealt with. I am not particularly good at the last step of laundry (wash, dry, and put away goddamnit).

I got up _stuuuupid_ early this morning, which my poor pampered body resisted as hard as it possibly could. Apparently I have fallen out of practice at hauling myself out of bed...that being said, I also haven't had to be at the school by *7AM* much of ever, not when classes don't begin until 7:45. The interview seemed to go well, so fingers crossed and stuff. It's not a permanent position, but it's a good one.

By the time I got home (before eight AM, ugghhhhhh), I was in that strange, slightly fluttery space where I was too medicated to fall asleep, but too exhausted to be fully present. So I curled up over breakfast with a copy of Arrows of the Queen. I don't think I consciously decided to read the whole thing, but let's face it, I am actively putting off opening Arrows Fall right now because I understand myself and the ways I work and I have just been very thoroughly reminded of how effectively Talia especially can hold me. Kerowyn is my Valdemar baby, and I have read Oathbreaker like seventy times1, but Talia, oh love, oh need. She was the first Herald, so of course she has the most hold.

(This rereading is in part prompted by finally picking up a copy of Storm Warning at a thrift store --I've had the second two in that trilogy for aaaages now. But you can't just _start_ with the mage storm trilogy, you have to understand all the underlying structure, and catch up with the Arrows and mage wars, and gryphon trilogies (and maybe even I'll try Vanyal again, although I recall now that his trilogy is fucking traumatic from the last time I reread them (the only time I've reread his).)

I REALLY LIKE MERCEDES LACKEY, OKAY! She is best author, and Heralds are best everything.

Anyways, I have put away (almost) all of my laundry, and cleaned most of the rest of my room, and now I am taking a short lunch break before tackling the whole "oh shit oh shit I need to pack for Dragon*Con" project. I'm babysitting this afternoon, and then tomorrow I'll have a few hours in the morning (my flight's not until three), but mannnn, there is SO MUCH TO DO!

I feel pretty good about myself and what I've accomplished so far today. HMM, AND I HAVEN'T SPENT ANY TIME ON TUMBLR OR VIDEO GAMES, WOW KAT, HOW INTERESTING.

(Which is not to say Tumblr or video games are bad things, but both are things that will eat significant chunks of time, and prevent me from doing things that make me feel good. They can and do make me feel good in and of themselves, but it's not really the same basic sense of Human as when I make a tangible change in my environment.)

That's enough flailing. Away! For I have been captured by a novel and may never escape again!
