It is Christmas! Yay! I should totally make a post listing loot or things I am thankful for or traditions or something, but I am totally edging a migraine right now, and I sense that staring at the computer screen will not actually help.

...That being said, I do seem to have caught it in time (I put ibuprofen in me -lots- and it started to hurt less and that's a wondrous rare thing as normally it keeps hurting more and more until I go to bed and force myself to sleep it off. My indifference to medication tends to make me delay on the ibuprofen slightly too long and then there's nothing for it.) so maybe I can give this a try.

Christmas is a pretty great holiday, as far as I am concerned. There is good loot, and lovely traditions and I get to spend the whole day with my family. For many people, that would be a disaster. For me, it is a net win: my family is pretty much the best ever.

We had the usual tumble of goofiness and stockings, then Mum and I made breakfast and we all enjoyed Alys's grapefruit faces (we had pummelos this year, which was deeply disappointing to me --way too sweet and not grapefruity, but they at least provided the show accurately). Then was presents, which managed to provide a wretched amount of excess, and wrapping paper all across the floor --success!

I got some just lovely loot. A significant amount of it was kobolds themed --mum put my name in for the Kobolds Ate My Baby fundraiser, so now I have a beautiful copy of the newest edition, some art prints, dice, and a plushy BRIGHTORANGE kobold who, according to their authenticity certificate, is named Strang. I had been referring to them with mostly masculine pronouns, but with familiarity I was informed they're really quite both agendered and asexual and would prefer "they". Also, they want to be a doctor, because then they are DOCTOR STRANG THE EVIL KOBOLD MAD SCIENTIST and they think that would be a lovely title.

We'll see. Especially since "evil kobold" is a little redundant (Strang's alignment is almost certainly chaotic hungry, they have tried to eat many things since arriving.) I expect them to get along *fabulously* with Senator Lemonsnout, to the point where I'm even contemplating making them an adventure harness1 of their very own so I can wear both on my belt at once.

My life is very silly. I'll try and take some pictures soon.

Other good stuff I got include bike gloves and rainbow wind-up daleks, and a very nice hat (Strang has been using it as a disguise --another thing I'm not sure I approve of) and a set of very nice metal objects that mom assures me will be useful in my future role of "security consultant"2 and a board game about programming turtles (!) and a character sheet for some sort of complex ARG/LARP/RPG that will probably commence when Alys's boyfriend arrives in a few days. I am happy about that.

(There are also rumours of...well, we won't go into that right now lest it be jinxed.)

Oh and footie pyjamas! I knew there was something I was forgetting! They are a lovely soft blue and covered in stars and I am totally happy with them. We need to have enough snow to have a snowed-in party because I will basically not take these off the entire time once that occurs. Oh oh oh, and PACIFIC RIM YAY YAY YAY I am happy about this, yes.

Lessee...Nik got a whole slew of kpop stuff, including a BRIGHT PINK hoodie which he wore the rest of the day, because damnit, when you have a favourite band, you commit! Alys's theme was Bhutan, where she will be spending three weeks, and she got lots of lovely camping gear. Sparr was granted manybooks (some of which I will share and some of which I will steal) and mom got a slave Leia lego from one of her newest internet friends --there's a photoshoot in the future with Leia and Strang for sure.

(Da's most exciting gift was definitely a set of "Breakin" and "Breakin 2: Electric Boogaloo". I was not lying when I said my family was awesome.)

So yeah, it was a good Christmas. After presents, we got to play Talisman, which dad had obtained for mom. It runs a little long, but was a pretty good stab at a swords and sorcery style board game. I won, of course, mostly because I was being an evil wizard. Or something. Oh, and there was a very excellent board game that I defeated with Sparr and Dad! I had much more concentration than usual as regards it, and was able to make some significant progress.

Then there was dinner and happy conversation and finishing the Talisman game and no pie (probably tomorrow, we forgot to thaw it) and watching The Gamers, which Sparr had never seen, and playing video games.

I am very satisfied with everything, and hope you are as well.

MOOP!

1: Because carrying around a stuffed animal who has been done up in a karada would be weird and maybe a little sketchy.

2: If you don't get it, catch me somewhere that's not forever and I'll squee!
