So, two days ago I failed at 750words, which had been my new years resolution, and yesterday I declared it a day of penance and made a long ist of things to get done and then, in a twist worthy of an M Night Shamalamalamlamlaman movie, actually did them all.

I know, I know, I'm as confused as you are. Actually being on top of things and getting my entire todo list done is, to put it simply, not a thing I do. Ever. So, in summation, holy crap, mixing my ADHD meds with guilt is *amazing*

One of the more exciting things on my epic list of doom was to go to the Contra dance, since I spent the rest of the weekend being a reclusive shut-in1 and not going to any of the half dozen things I was potentially going to attend on Saturday night. It was a surprisingly good time --BIDA contras, hosted in Porter Square on 1st and 3rd Sundays, are almost always surprisingly good times, which mean I should really make it to more of them, because, um, I am super into this particular contra scene, despite being really not into the Concord scene.

I got to see a handful of people I really like ([personal profile] thoroughbass! [personal profile] ratatosk! That girl from MIT I have a huge crush on omg!!!) and do some pretty great dancing (including the _snarkiest waltz_ with Mycroft which was extremely satisfying) and I had the last contra first off be an incredibly good contra (it went from a line of four people going down the hall to those four people in a circle with arms crossed in a cloverleaf pattern --this was GOOD DANCING!) and second off be with a total talented cutie who made for a great partner. Oh, and the whole dance was genderfree themed, so even though BIDA is usually pretty good about that, tonight they were even better.

So yesterday was really good, like, good enough that I don't even mind that today was sortof a wash (and hey, Sparr and I went and looked at a place, and I went grocery shopping and bought grapefruit and other lesser goods, so that was lovely) and I am just feeling reasonably on top of things. Plus, I have super super exciting news to share, that I have cleverly buried under a few paragraphs of random babble.

Are you ready? Okay! The exciting news is this...

I am starting a math paraprofessional2 job at the high school!

TOMORROW!

Well, okay, it turns out there's a snow emergency on right now so tomorrow is a day off from school, but I was going to start tomorrow and now I am presumably going to start on Wednesday so OHMYGODYAYYYYY! Teaching! Math! HIGH SCHOOL! It's just what I've been dreaming of for oh so long. *swoon!*

Also, I don't think I've formally mentioned, but I have a second job working at SCALE (Somerville Center for Adult Learning Experiences) where I teach math to adults who are trying to get their GEDs. It's about the most satisfying teaching I have *ever* had the pleasure of doing --the students are dedicated, inquisitive, and passionate, which is such a delightful change from everything else. So, in the course of this school year I have gone from having one job that didn't actually care about me in the slightest (subbing for the Malden system --I've actually gotten a couple of phone calls, but it took them until February for anyone to bother looking me up), to a job that was enjoyable and regular but not actually my goal (assorted K-12 substituting), to having TWO AMAZING JOBS that I am happy with and ohman, how did I get so lucky?

So that is my life. And I am pleased to say that even though I missed a day of 750w, it was only one day, and I will persevere! Because stubbornness is, if not my most attractive trait, at least my most active one.

MOOP!

1: Well no, I had an incredibly darling date on Saturday that took up much of the day and involved pie and exploring the world and good conversation and other things that gentlefolk don't discuss in polite company.

2: Teacher sidekick
