Boring life updates!
Jan. 10th, 2011 11:55 pmSo, let's talk about what's actually been happening in my life, since I feel I've been quiet on that front, and I do like providing you lot with at least *occasional* updates.
The 28th, Magus came into town for the New Years party, and also to hang out with me because we hadn't seen each other in seven months. Which was...so excellent, on so many levels. It made me happy how easy it was to slip right back into the relationship that was. Very reassuring in terms of the relationship that will be, and hopefully, there won't be another seven month span without getting to snuggle up against each other.
(Although I realized that by the time we next play Are You a Werewolf together, it will have been longer than the amount of time between meeting and remeeting. Which is bizarre! Mostly because that was _such a long time_ and it hasn't really been all that long since we've hunted wolves, not really. Except, you know. It has.)
The thirtieth, Brenton and Matt came into town, again for New Years party and other entertainments. This is also excellent, because Brenton is faboo, and Matt is well worth hanging out with, and would be even if he weren't my boyfriend's best friend.
The thirty-first through second was New Years, which basically consisted of social, gaming (Agricola, Shadow Hunters, Dominion, and TransAmerica were the big games --I didn't realize I would love Galaxy Trucker until the last game of it was being played), dance, more social, good smells from the kitchen (and helping Chort by being a sous-chef, which this time consisted of washing ALL THE DISHES) and other nice things. Also a little bit of hiding quietly away in the linen closet for an hour or so, in order to let my brain settle.
Utter highlight includes BDan and Herbert visiting for twenty-four hours, and having them join in on all of the above, including the closeting. But that was still lovely!
Matt left on the second and Brenton on the third, returning the house to a more normal space, with just mom and the kids and I and Magus.
The next several days involved faffing, sewing projects, and at least one considerable breakdown that was VERY TERRIBLE in the moment and utterly stupid looking back. Seriously Kat. You're worried about what? And what? You are kinda silly, I hope you know that.
(I do know that. I am silly).
I drove Mom to the airport early the morning of the...uh...sixth, so she could go househunt in Chicago. I drove Magus to the airport that evening, and drove home listening to music and really hearing some messages that I haven't let get across my head in too long. It was a very good drive, culminating in one of my regular pilgrimages (I also went to D.N.P. Park1, meaning I made all my MD pilgrimages this vacation, which is fitting) and after I had howled along with the music appropriately, I drove home.
Less than twenty minutes after, I headed *back* to the airport, to pick Magus back up, because honestly, magical-flying-dollars are well worth exchanging for getting to spend another night in Maryland.
Friday I brought Magus to the airport proper, and went home and decided to Get Things Done. This basically meant grocery shopping and picking up food from the school. After that was SUSHI with excellent people, and was delicious.
Saturday, SCDAlex came over for the express purpose of watching Black Books, because he had never seen it (can you imagine?). I will have to find the other two seasons somehow and show them to him --he'll show me Blackadder in return, I expect. We also had an adventure to the park, where we swang on my favourite swingset and discussed ridiculous and wonderful things, and spent a rather long time hanging out on the staircase. Staircases are far more comfortable than they have any right to be, and I would probably hang out on more of them, but you're always dreadfully in the way.
Sunday, I drove to DC to hang out with Jannyblue. Firstly because she had things for me to look through and steal (costume jewelry and now I have a BunBun Devourer of Holidays plushie!) and secondly because Janny is a boss person and has a boss new apartment and it's nice to hang out with nice people in their nice spaces. We played wii and ate food and I admired her dragons and the other interesting things in her house. After, I drove home, and promptly didn't achieve anything for the rest of the night, other than retrieving my mother from the airport.
Today I hung out with MadamLuna, and I have news worthy of its own post (in part because I wish to ask advice). We went to panara bread, and it felt very adult except for the parts where we were whispering "butts" to each other. We played absurd games, and gossiped an absolute ton, and showed each other things on the internet and watched the original Pee-Wee's Stage Show thing from the eighties that was *fabulous*.
And then she went home and that was the last many days. Over the next three or four days I have to hang out with Veronica (fucking _critical_. Her work and my sucky contact ability means I have barely seen her this break and that's tragic) and clean ALL THE THINGS, but especially my room, and on Thursday I retrieve Sparr from the airport and then I need to pack and on Friday he and I and mom and Dan (and possibly Sam and Liana) all get on a jet plane and go to Boston for Arisia. Whew.
(And then I'm in Atlanta for a week, and then I return for good and my life can return to normal, except for graduating and seeking out more school and a job.)
How's your January been? 2011 feels empowering more than anything else. Like, I keep having all these awful brain things going on, but they're easy enough to unkink. Music is working and sense is working, and I'm able to get past the bad and focus again on the wonderful.

1: Named for an album that I've never heard, and never will hear, because to do so would be to betray a trust.
It's the park that I will never create a memory in that's not solely my own --no one else to taint it. I need at least one place in the world that belongs to only me.
