Oh gods...
Woke up at nine with a general sense of "Oh fuck, I need to be at the science museum in fourty five minutes or less, so help me god, and I don't know how to get there or how long it takes.
Got dressed, looked up directions, and left dorm in something like five minutes total, didn't eat breakfast, practically ran through harvard yard (took me just over five minutes to get to the Harvard T-station, confirming my theory that it's slightly closer than Porter), and it didn't matter, because the train didn't come for another five or six minutes anyways
And, of course, while going down the stairs to get to the T, I managed to trip, go more or less head over heels, sprawl out on the landing, and presumably flash whoever was behind me (fucking skirts)
And twist my ankle enough so that it still hurts
Train eventually came, got to my stop, had to wait an extrodinarily large amount of time for the *next* train, all the while dealing with the little voice in my head going "you are wholly irresponsible, you know that, right?" made it to the museum fifteen minutes after they told us we had to be there by, and, by some stroke of luck (ie, the hour of hell was over), there was one of our teachers there who sent me up to the rest of the class

(yay for copypasting from IM chats)

It's probably worth mentioning that, when the general sense of despair gets to the point where I couldn't even be motivated to cut myself if I *had* a knife, it's probably a bad sign.

Anyways, ankle is swollen and being iced. I'm still probably going to be a moron and go out on a stalking-dan4th adventure in order to play games, later tonight. (Although, as my brain helpfully pointed out, really, if I get raped and murdered it would just be par for the course --some days, you're really just not supposed to leave your room.)

BUT! Day became instantly better because I was in the Boston museum of SCIENCE!
Which is a science musuem, and therefore bitchin'.

They had a life sized model of a T-Rex there.
Let me repeat that:

They had a life sized model of a T-Rex there.

I kinda just stared at it with a giant shit eating grin on my face.

They also had an (admittedly slightly disappointing, just because it didn't have a lot of hands on stuff) exhibit hall called "Mathematica", which I rushed past as I was trying to join up with my group at the beginning, saw out of the corner of my eye, stopped dead, and went "This is *porn*!", before becoming undistracted. It was, of course, the first place I went after we were given free range to explore.

Oh! And van de graff generator! Which my hair is too long for --no, I'm not shitting you, I don't get the dandelion-gone-to-seed look because my hair is too long and too heavy for it. It's still incredibly fun.

And I got to watch a set of pigs lungs be inflated, and stare at newly hatched chicks, and there was a giant mobius strip, and a playground devoted to Newtonian laws of motion and basic phyics, and there was lightning and optical illusions (and the woman running the optical illusions presentation had a FSM pin, I shit you not, that made my *day* and a robot that I'll have to come visit again and all these little geek references everywhere, and I felt like Randall Munroe was going to pop up at any time and say hello, and oh, it was *wonderful*

In short, day could easily have started better. And it would've been nice to have someone to wander with --I'm not especially close to very many of my classmates, and so I did most of the exploring on my own. (Anyone want to go to the science museum sometime?) But overall, it was a pretty good day, and I enjoyed myself.
