Soyeah. Heroes? Awesome. Awesome. Yes, zyxwvut, I would have sex with it if I could. It is Just That Good.

Mylar (MohinderxSylar) is the Greatest Thing Ever. I don't generally actively participate in slash fandoms, because I'm too lazy to go dig up the good porn and I don't want waste my time and potentially ruin my views on the characters (also because I don't slash, I crack.) but when the very first Heroes fanfic I have ever read is Tal's On the Porch of a Motel in Georgia (warning, rated R for porn), I may have to somewhat lift that rule.

...yeeeeah. Mohinder = bringing the pretty. I apparently have a soft spot in my heart for Indian guys (gee Kat, no idea where that could've come from, it's not like you had a crush on any in your early formative years, right?) (Sarcasm aside, Mohinder's prettier. :P) and ACCENT! *swooons!*

Gabriel Sylar = *shivers!* I can't even blame my wholly complicated love life for this one, I just like sociopaths. Only even better, he's *not*, he's *trying* to be good. Gleeee!!

"Damn, that girl looks familier. Was she Rizzo --I mean, Frenchie? Fuck, this is bothering me. *imdb's*
Oh, holyshit, Sylar's mom is Audrey. Bahahahaha. Righteous."

"So...Claire is Peters niece? And Angela/MaPetrelli is Special? Are we going to learn what kind of special someday, because if you're going to keep implying it like that, it would be nice to learn the rest.

Have I mentioned nomnomnom, I love this show yet?

Oo! I can go read Talia's entries about Heroes now! Lessee, Heroes tag, click back 20. Back 20. Back 20. Etc. Damnit, there has to be a beginning SOMEWHERE. Ah! Here we are. 221 entries. ...shit.

Annnnnndyeah. I'm a bit too incoherent for this, I should go eat. Hmm, food or fanfiction. Damn the decisions I must make some days.

Err...where'd you get the idea that Sylar is trying to be good?

Am I allowed to spoiler your questions about Mama Petrelli?

No you are not.

I got the idea from the whole episode with his mother. He was trying really hard to just be normal, he was! And he doesn't *want* to blow up all of everybody, I mean, that changes, eventually, but he doesn't want to kill lots and LOTS of people, just certain weaker members of his species.

Yyyeeeahhhh, I guess so, but how many years ago was that? Judging by his number of powers he has, he's killed a lot of people, so that makes it seem like he's been killing for quite a while.

So...killing weaker members as opposed to killing millions of people makes him good?

That event (Gabriel's visit to his mother) takes place sometime within the three days leading up to the Manhattan Bombing. I'm slightly uncertain of the exact chronology, but it's after Hiro returns from Five Years in the Future.

He started killing Six Months Ago (I'm not sure what date that anchors to, but approximately six months before the events of the primary timeline of Season One).

but how many years ago was that?

About...0.3, if I've got the timeline right. And while I don't think he's trying to be good now, he certainly tried to be good in that episode--or at least to see if he could be good, and then he discovered that he couldn't, and now he's never going back. So, no, killing weaker members as opposed to killing millions of people doesn't make him good; it's just that there's enough of a difference to make him wonder if he should do it, which makes him, though not good, slightly less evil. But now he's pretty much all-evil-all-the-time, so the point is moot.

And, of course, you have an icon that's perfectly suited for this post. :P

I plan for such things ahead of time. One can never be too prepared.

One of the things which I like about Heroes is that the antagonists have motivations more complex than Bad Guys Do Bad Things.

I disagree with you about Sylar, though. He's evil. He believes that any action is permissible if it improves his own welfare. He justifies it with "I can use their powers better than they ever could", but reality is that he feels justified in obtaining anything he can take. The ultimate expression of "the state of nature".

Notice that the reason he's disturbed at killing the entire population of Manhattan isn't that he's killing all those people, it's that he's killing all those people For No Apparent Reason. He can't comprehend why he would do that. The shock gives him some recognition that he's turning into a monster, and he tries to convince himself that he should be satisfied with normality rather than striving to be the pinnacle of anything at any cost. In neither scenario is he capable of perceiving some middle-ground: satisfaction with what he's achieved and desire to achieve greater tempered by a moral code on what means are permissible for achieving it.

I find Linderman much more interesting. This is the kind of antagonist I love. He sincerely believes that the horrible actions he's committing are the right, moral thing to do, because they will result in The Greater Good. In his mind, he's a Good Guy, and all the protagonists of the show are the antagonists, wittingly or unwittingly standing in the way of his plan to improve the world!

eeeeeHeroes!

The dialogue on Heroes is kinda bad, but then I have high standards.

I always loved Nathan for the kind of bad but wants to be good vibe. Yeah, he's a politician and kind of cold, but he cares on the inside and doesn't know how to show it. He tries to do the right thing!

And then they go and write Petrellicest which totally creeps me out.
