Sundries, so I can close all these windows and restart my computer1:

*Chick-Fil-A supports Focus on the Family, which wants me to burn in hell for thinking it's maybe perhaps okay for two guys in love to do the k. This means I can't actually eat there, but between how good their food is, and the fact that they are now doing comic books as kid's prizes, I really _really_ wish I could.

*I'm pretty pleased with the FCKH8 campaign (Warning: NSFW language. Like, a lot of it. Also, Youtube). Probably going to have to get one of the shirts, and maybe a set of the little buttons too.

*I actually managed to have this open in two different windows (meaning I stumbled upon it at two different times): Krystal Ball does not approve of you making female politicians into whores. I think she might be my new feminist hero, along with Feminist Hulk.

*On a lighter note, Javert Set Us Up The Bomb.

*So, Surviving the World (one of my current favourite webcomics) is having server-drama. The day after all this happened, the comic was entitled "Lesson 775: Dealing with Internet-Based Customer Service".

*And lastly, the super super SUPER awesome [livejournal.com profile] rm has started a production company, and is trying to raise moneys so that she can put on a musical. The Kickstarter page is here! If you have some spare monies to drop into the jar of an awesome artist trying to make awesome art, you should!

Wow. That statement exudes West Wing levels of class. Strikingly, her website is full of total pablum on the issues.

Maybe we can get her to fire whoever wrote those statements, move to Boston, and run for us.

Apparently the secret to Chik-Fil-A's fried chicken is pickle juice. (well that and liberal amounts of butter on the buns - argh my arteries are hardening just thinking about it). Anyway, I just saw a copycat recipe for it online, and would be interested in trying it. Also, we could probably make small batches of waffle fries in Tracy's FryDaddy, if we found frozen waffle fries somewhere. I don't think this would be impossible.

I can't really compete on the comic books though. :)

What OS are you using?
I'm only using a up-to-date patched XP and my uptime is 4-5 days before I feel the need to reboot... Any number of other OSes are better than that, but I don't feel I need to upgrade to months at a time any time soon...

Oh, and also -- I wrote that just after I read that footnote (which, yes -- I do read them as they come up)... I can't stand the FCKH8 campaign -- I am certainly behind the sentiment, but it sounded very forced from most of the people in the video. Had they reserved it for every-other or every-third sentence it may have been powerful; but demanding the word for every single statement just diluted it a lot. At least that's my take on it.

...fucking really, Chick-Fil-A? You're my favorite fast food, and now I learn about this?

Goddamnit.

They're closed on Sundays because of their Christian Morals.

Yeah, but I can live with that. If they want to hurt their own business by not opening, so be it.

Supporting a group like FoF, though. Ugh.

OSX is entirely capable of uptime measured in days, in my experience. More than days, in fact; my laptop (10.4, so not current, but still) never gets shut down or rebooted unless it specifically requests to be so because of a software update or something; I just close the lid and put it to sleep. Given how infrequent 10.4 updates are nowadays, I would not be surprised if I'm into the weeks, not days, of non-asleep uptime by now. Even my main computer can stay up without much difficulty for a few days at a time, and it runs Windows Vista, which seems to be near-universally reviled for reasons I don't quite understand. A bigger problem is Firefox growing to eat too much memory; simply closing and reopening it fixes that.
